<slikdigit> make.
<eyecandy> eh... blender svn?
<slikdigit> yep
<slikdigit> I switched to make
<eyecandy> no scons support so far?
* akito_ (n=ton@h89220116160.dsl.speedlinq.nl) has joined #blendermovie
<slikdigit> scons works if you update you build new ffmpeg libs, and add swscaler into the libs
<slikdigit> in user-config.py
<eyecandy> where is swscaler?
<slikdigit> it's in the new ffmpeg version appearantly, we use it to save cpu
<slikdigit> that's what stivs said anyway
<slikdigit> It didn't work for me
<eyecandy> but how do i make scons find it?
* slikdigit couldn't get scons to build with /usr/local ffmpeg
<slikdigit> supposedly put it into your ffmpeg path
<eyecandy> ...and i do that by....?
<eyecandy> :)
* eyecandy stupid
<slikdigit> copy the the stuff from linux2blahconfig.py into user-config.py, then change /usr to /usr/local
<slikdigit> then get the new ffmpeg libs from ffmpeg svn , ./configure it with the right options (do ./configure --help to see) then make and make install
<slikdigit> it'll install to /usr/local
<slikdigit> then where you have the ffmpeg libs line in usr_config.py, add swscaler to avcodec etc.
<slikdigit> supposedly that works, but it didn't for me
<slikdigit> WITH_BF_FFMPEG = 'true'
<slikdigit> BF_FFMPEG = '/usr'
<slikdigit> BF_FFMPEG_INC = '${BF_FFMPEG}/include'
<slikdigit> BF_FFMPEG_LIBPATH='${BF_FFMPEG}/lib'
<eyecandy> yeh got that
<slikdigit> oh cool
<slikdigit> so changing /usr to /usr/local (once you have the new ffmpeg lib installed there) and adding swscaler to BF_FFMPEG_LIB should work
<slikdigit> like I said, I always got link errors whenever I tried anything but /usr...
<slikdigit> if that happens, you can scons BF_QUIET = 0
<slikdigit> and then for the final link command, put in the actual paths to the ffmpeg libs, and re-run it by hand
<slikdigit> the resulting binary won't be in the usual place, but it'll link
<slikdigit> you can also static link them by puting in the .a libs I think
<slikdigit> that's what I did when I was manually linking with scons
<eyecandy> i tried to run the ffmpeg-update.sh....
<eyecandy> that's not supposed to work?
* slikdigit doesn't even know what that is
<eyecandy> it's in extern/ffmpeg/
<slikdigit> oh the ffmpeg in extern is already up to date
<eyecandy> and you have to run it with --i-really-know-what-im-doing :)
<slikdigit> scons doesn't use it
<eyecandy> hmmmmmm
<eyecandy> how nice
<slikdigit> only make uses it, and all you have to do is type "make"
<slikdigit> scons uses your system ffmpeg libs in /usr
<eyecandy> now that sucks
