what I like about http://www.slacky.it:
* 3 column design
* search always visible on top left
* main page has slackware related news + package related news
* "Downloads" menu item displays 'advanced' search + categories w/ # of packages in category
* Selecting a category shows a list of packages w/ description + date added + # downloads
* category list sortable by # downloads (popularity), alphabetical, or date added
* selecting a package shows a more detailed view
* selecting download shows a folder view that is more than a standard apache folder view
what I like about http://www.freebsd.org/ports/index.html:
* search w/ options
* link on left to display categories sorted by alphabet or by logical group
* selecting a category shows short descr, links to more info, maintainer, dependencies, and alternate category
* selecting a package shows bread crumbs, table w/ pseudo directory view
* list of all ports link
what I like about http://www.freshports.org/:
* "10 most recent commits" in main view
* statistics section on right
* ability to "watch" or "subscribe" to a program/port/package so the user recieves email updates when programs they use are updated
what I like about http://www.customize.org/:
* category view on left
* "recent submissions" in main body at top
* news area in main body
I do not think we should allow user "voting" or "comments" because all of these should just work. And what would people really be voting for/commenting on? the program or the script itself? thats all i got for right now.
