Well, we're all getting ready to wrap up the summer. Next weekend I'm heading down to Miami to catch the Marlins vs the Astros before Biggio retires at the end of the year. I haven't seen the 'stros play in about 15 years. I remember the Astrodome, but I don't actually remember watching them play.
It's been an interesting summer. I've been working an internship the entire summer. It's extremely boring, but it pays. Other than that, I've been hanging mainly with family. The few times that I've gotten away were mainly when I just jumped in a car and started to drive somewhere. Almost all of my friends are in other states now, and I don't exactly get along that great with the other losers at our church.
Anyways, two week after the Miami trip, I'm heading back to prison. Actually, I'm heading to a new prison. I can't go back to Natha, there's no way I'd make it another year up there. So what am I going to do? Transferring to Clearwater... another Christian school. I think I was lying to myself thinking that it'd be any better.
Every time I think back on the last year of school, yeah I had great times with friends and hanging out, but the school itself drove me mad. The rules, the deans, the teachers, everything just kinda started to snow ball.
I have my own standards set up in my own life, and I'm hard headed enough to actually live by them. The rules setup at Christian colleges simply punish those that have standards. As soon as students get out, they're going to do whatever they want anyways. It's not up to the school to be your parents. Please, provide a decent education.
People always say well sure, at Christian colleges, you're around people just like you that want to serve blah blah blah. They're full of a bunch of fakers. At least at a state school, everyone's true colors show, because they can and will do whatever it is that they value. Partying, studying, serving, whatever. Instead though, you have everyone trying to say and do the "right" things perceived by those around them.
Point being, I'm not going back to Natha ( as most of you already knew ), and I really don't want to go to Clearwater. What's next? I'm already transferring for the first time, and if I do it again, it'll probably start costing me college credits. If this semester doesn't go well, I might just look at going to USF or UCF or something.
College is all fine and dandy, but what am I going to do after it? Honestly, I'm not sure anymore. I grew up like most people, oh! I want to help, I want to be a fireman, I want to be a police officer. I want to be a professional ball player. Then I developed an interest in computers, and I always wanted something in that field, ever since I was about 12 years old. Now? I'm about sick and tired of computers. I use them to keep up with friends, research, news, and that's about it. They're no longer interesting, they're no longer fun.
I've always considered joining the military, and last year I was in Army ROTC program up at college. There's something to be said for knowing what you'll be doing for the next 8 years of your life. It'd be nice to KNOW what I'm going to do, but right now I'm not sold on contracting yet. I've seen the government screw people over left and right. People always talk about recruiting this, recruiting that. Convince your buddies to sell out their souls so that you get a recruiting bonus. FBI? Maybe, I'm going to a military career expo next weekend, and will talk to more recruiters. Meaning I'll take everything they say with a grain of salt. It's very rare to find a good recruiter that will talk straight to you. SGT Reed... you're the man.
So, right now I'm just trying to make it through college, I just wish it wasn't Clearwater right now. We'll see what happens after that. I just need to find something that I enjoy doing, and that I can get by on. I can't ask for more than that. I just wish I was in the position to pay my own way, and support myself.
If you actually read this entire thing, I give you mad props. Sorry for the rambling.
