public text v1 · immutableHe was a member of the Qin dynasty, and ascended to the throne in 247 BC at the age of twelve. In 221 BC Zheng united all of what is now China. He renamed himself Qín Shǐ Huáng (“First Emperor of Qin”) and became known as “the unifier”, although ‘unifier’ is a rather peaceful word to describe the blood thirsty conqueror of the region’s small city states.
