<marek> Led_Zeppelin: fsgen is an (default) option for veritas volume manager, it's the default one and means that the volume containcs vx filesystem and flush it consistently, check out manual for vxassi -- in other words, it's a "type" of volume in hpux
<marek> eugene: no it doesn't -- but I'm not sure about it, as entrance is free
<eugene> ok
<Led_Zeppelin> marek: ok, I will see
<Led_Zeppelin> vxassist does not really show anything about that.
<Led_Zeppelin> so, it basically means a 'generic' filesystem?

<Led_Zeppelin> heh I am not sure. I want to emulate SAN too, if possible. I want to do dmp with vxfs

<inode0> I don't use CentOS but I can't imagine check-update does anything more than check for updates?!
<MatBoy> I have the same idea
<MatBoy> I don't know if when they release a new update version if that is the version you will run after the yum update
<MatBoy> because /etc/redhat-release is still on the same version as where I installed the machine with
<jds2001_> it will not update from 4 to 5 for instance
<jds2001_> but from 4.4 to 4.5, that's taken care of with a yum update
<jds2001_> and it should update redhat-release along with it.
<MatBoy> yeah, but that is not done, update the redhat-release
<MatBoy> that it doesn't upgrade from 4 to 5... I understand that... I still want to run 4.5 I think

<MatBoy> btw, is there a good reason to run 5.0 on production servers ?
<MatBoy> or 4.5 is still good enough ? because upgrading from 4 to 5 is a pain as far as I can see
<jds2001_> if you need the features in it.

<wmealing> MFen, thanks ! i didnt know that.. quite neat.
<wmealing> ctatuk, validation of ?
<ctatuk> CD media testing (packages)
<wmealing> ctatuk, you'll find that the cd testing depends on many factors.
<wmealing> media, burner type, burner setting
<wmealing> imho, best to ignore it.
<wmealing> I've only ever seen 10 models of CDRW's -ever- do it correctly.
<AIChains> network installs ftw!
<wmealing> most.
<evil_steve> I went insane at one point burning copies of RH7 to get it working, and then found out that that particular CD media didn't like that particular CD Drive
<evil_steve> wasted about 50 disks back when it was $30 for a 10 pack
<jesse> Anyone here famiilar with installing RHEL5 on a iSCSI target?
<ctatuk> hmm that's all very interesting

<inode0> I think it is more reliable to just mount the CD, mount the ISO, and diff them personally
