Dear Mrs. Spindler,

I write to you in concern of events that took place 5/6/07, during my sitting for the practical examination "Assessment Event - [Practical] Open Book Practical Assessment 2"

The assessment is a PASS/FAIL for Unit ICAU2231A, and yet points or marks for my effort do not change my arguement or standing in any way.

Okay, so let me explain my situation:

During the first part of the assignment, drivers were listed and to be installed where I only installed the necessary drivers to continue my work - the NIC drivers.

My plan was to continue the rest of the assignment, and install those drivers ( VGA, Sound ) when I had completed the critical tasks that were necessary to pass.

Lauren explained to me that I could not attempt Part B of the assignment untill she had looked at my work and marked it -

With this in mind, I asked her to mark my work, where she came & sat next to me and proceeded to mark my work. She wrote NOT FUNCTIONAL under each of the dirvers and noted that XP 2 was not installed..

This enraged me to no extent, I can honestly say that I have never been so offended in my life.

SP2 was actually in the procses of being installed while she was looking at my work, it was in the god damn task bar right next to the folder she had opened when she first clicked the mouse..

The ironic part of all of this is, is that to one of the other students whom I overheard mentioning to -

"Have you completed both of the parts, or did you just want me to mark one part?"

.....

My standing on the matter as I mentioned above was that I had misunderstood in her saying that I must complete the first part of the assignment, but her EXACT words to me were that I must complete the first part of the assignment to continue, because I asked a question about TCP/IP and that is when she made the statement.

I do not care for a few petty marks to be deprived of my final score, yet my value for my integrity and honor as a student does mean something to me.

She accused me of lying when I said that XP SP2 was being installed, and when I was writing my name on the peice of paper next to another student on her computer, she pushed me to the side and said that I should go sit some where else.. - I'm pretty sure she was implying that I was trying to cheat.

I would appreciate it if you could take some time to meet with me and try to rectify the situation

Yours sincerely,

Matthew Flannery
