Summary
The requirements reflected in the “Veris 2.0 Enhancements” Represent broad sweeping changes to the Veris project:
• Database Schema;
• Code;
• UI Layout/flow.
It is my opinion these changes represent a progression of VERIS from a simple excel/access like application, to an almost fully-fledged disaster/project management system. The current state of development in this direction appears to be quite early, with the dbase schema lacking serious components, eg ‘equipment’ ‘multiple operator logins’ ‘task scheduling’ all of which represent major functionality changes.
It is my belief the original project estimate of 3 months has been vastly under scoped. And the above changes represent a difficulty of in excess of that for developing the original ‘simple’ Veris application. Any redevelopment project schedule would have to be at least as long as the entire development length of the Veris application so far, and most likely considerably longer.
