Hello, a month ago my son made an unauthorized transaction with my paypal account to your server as a donation for virtual items. I secured my account and contacted your staff and within a couple days the full amount was refunded.
Unfortunately, a week after that happened, my son used an alternative method, of which i was unaware of, to change the information of my paypal account and made another unauthorized transaction to your server totaling $310.
It's been 3 weeks since this payment has been sent, and throughout the duration of the 3 weeks I have tried everything to get the amount refunded.
I have appealed through paypal, whom informed me my appeal case was closed because the transactions I was appealing matched my transaction history. Ironically my transaction history consists payments sent to your server, and later refunded, which in my opinion, would be the ideal transaction history to have to make a case for an appeal. Once paypal closes your appeal, it can not be reopened and is basically finalized according to paypal.
I phoned my bank and was basically told it is up to paypal for an issue like this.
So realizing I can't go through any legal or third parties to settle this dispute I attempted to reason with the staff of this server again to get a refund. Throughout the entire 3 weeks I have spoken to nynaeve nearly every other day trying to get an update on where my appeal stands.
In the original refund I received, it seemed like Silent issued the refund, so I talked to numberous staff members to make sure Silent was aware of my situation. After 2 weeks of numberous staff members telling me they will inform Silent I was told it was not in fact up to Silent, but it was up to Peyton whether I be issued a refund or not. I then tried to get a hold of Peyton for half of this week.
Finally tonight Nynaeve has told me that Peyton was aware of my appeal and has said no, but I need to convince her. I wanted to include the detail of all the work I have put in the last 3 weeks of pursuing a refund to show that it has taken 3 weeks to finally get an answer and know that someone was directly communicated to and has judged my appeal.
My son is recently dealing with the separation of my wife and myself, and in his ignorance of the damage an identity theft he has sent me on quiet a journey.
I was unaware of the various parental options paypal has, and of the secret question my son used to change the password this second time, so my ignorance has also contributed.
Neither me nor my son own any virtual property from your server or have received any services in exchange for the $310. I understand your staff has taken time to deal with me and my case, but I think that is priceless, and is included in the responsibilities of operating a business like this.
In your donation agreement it states: "You may appeal your donation refund on the forums, and we will review your case."
This is my appeal and I hope you can review my case one last time.
I think it is very fair that I be refunded. If I had received anything from the $310 I would say otherwise, but for a child's mistake that is a very high price to pay, and a bit unnecessary for a service like you all are running. This server seems to be a tight knit community with a friendly and helpful staff and a decision like this would seem to go against what you have built up.
I understand any parental advice I receive through this, but in this modern day, parenting has taken on new dimensions and a parent like myself has to evolve with these times.
I hope you will help me out, this is a large sum for me to loose and a big reason why I have spent time every day the last 3 weeks trying to work something out. Thanks to all of the staff who has helped me, and I am sorry the burden my son and I have given you.
I appreciate any comments helping my case through sympathy, understanding, or good-will.
Thank you
-Roger Lewis
