<Draconicus> On the right, starting from the door, is a very small chest of drawers with my laundry basket on top. Next to that is my two-milk-crate bookshelf with a tall trash bin in front of it. Hanging above it from under the shelf is my record cabinet, which is made from many welded bars. It once served as a floor-standing one in the 50s. Now it hangs from stiff wire.
<Hieronymus> Sounds like you've got rustic charm.
<Draconicus> Industrial is more like it.
<Hieronymus> an industrial closet. Sounds interesting.
<Draconicus> next is my glass-and-aluminum computer desk. On it I have a monitor in the middle and Windows and Linux boxes on the left and right side respectively. It has a shelf above with my speakers and junk, and plenty of leg room underneath. Next to that is a big old worn down brown filing cabinet straight out of the 70s.
<Hieronymus> Heheh... I remember dropping a monitor through one of those desks once. ^v^
<Draconicus> Speaking of 70s, the chair is from that era as well. Big and pleather and high backed. It reclines. I have it sitting on a set of old low-profile macs because it's too short otherwise.
<Draconicus> There is absolutely no space in between any of these things on the right wall.
<Hieronymus> low-profile macs?
<Draconicus> Yeah. Old Macs.
<Draconicus> They made some very flat ones at one point.
<Hieronymus> Which ones?
<Draconicus> Lessee...
<Draconicus> The Quadra 610 I try not to crush too much. It has a ROM I can still use for Basilisk II to run OS 8 on Linux.
<Draconicus> A 6115CD. Nobody cares about those.
<Draconicus> And the empty shell of a PowerMac 6100/66
<Hieronymus> A friend of mine used to have a 6115
<Draconicus> Yeah. They're not very good.
<Hieronymus> Got so sick of it he booted it down the stairs.
<Draconicus> :P
<Hieronymus> Yet it still worked.
<Draconicus> This was the CD variation
<Draconicus> Oh yes, they're resiliant buggers.
<Hieronymus> Harder to kill :P
<Draconicus> So anyway, on the wooden shelf above (and by that I mean boards of pine), there's my streo in the center, with its speakers far to the left and right, on the ends of the shelves. On the immediate right is my turntable and a box of 8-Tracks I've obtained but don't listen to. To the left of the stereo is my 8-Track player, whose belt melted away a long time ago. It now uses a hairband to rotate the c
<Draconicus> artridges.
<Draconicus> Next to the 8-Track player is a 4-channel mixer from the 70s that's in dire need of tuner cleaner. It does the trick to make everything play off the stereo, though, and solves all of my volume problems.
<Draconicus> I also installed just today a huge industrial grade fan with giant metal blades of death. It keeps the room from turning into an oven.
<Hieronymus> Blades of death are always fun.
<Draconicus> Mmm.
<Hieronymus> Sounds like you've got a fairly big closet.
<Draconicus> No. It's quite small.
<Draconicus> Remember, six steps from front to back.
<Draconicus> Three if you take big ones.
<Hieronymus> Hmm
<Draconicus> I'm just good at loving dicks.
<Hieronymus> Then just take smaller steps.
<Draconicus> :P
<Hieronymus> problem solved.
<Draconicus> On the left side of the room, starting from the door, there's a short corner of wall that sticks out and makes no sense. My bed miraculously fits right beyond it, just barely fitting between it and the opposite wall lengthwise. There's what was once an artistic plant holder. It's now my hat stand. It's a pole that goes from floor to ceiling. It's rusty coper and is covered in chains. Next to it is
<Draconicus> a lamp straight out of the 40s, restored to working condition by my hand, and also decked in chains.
<Draconicus> There's a large hole on either side of the room for access to other parts of the atticspace, which is what this once was. The roof is actually slanted on either side. It's amazing how everything fits so nicely. I set my 23" TV on top of two 1960s wooden milk crates set into the hole next to my bed. My desk covers up the other one. Posters, hub caps, license plates, rotary saw blades, and some spare
<Draconicus> vinyl records decorate my walls/ceiling.
<Draconicus> There's a shelf almost as wide as my bed sitting over it. It holds all of my game consoles and some toolbox stuff. A vintage wall lamp makes it easier to see what's up there.
<Draconicus> There's a rusty copper curtain rod that's not meant for a window as small as mine sitting over it, and I have a hubcap chandelier (read: A toyota hubcap hanging from the ceiling via intricate chains) right near it.
