Administrators, defined as users designated on the "staff" page as such, are herein referred to "admin(s)".
Registered users, defined as individuals who have made an account and who willingly read and/or partake on the website, herein referred to as "member(s)".
The pages titled "Basic Web Hacking", "Javascript Challenges", are herein referred to as "Missions"
Any said Missions belong to their respective Hackgrounds and their respective owners. The Missions are solely for the purpose of teaching users how to secure their own site. Said Missions are only to be completed by registered users. Any actions by said users are solely the actions of themselves and Hackgrounds is not liable for any actions of the said users.
Articles, defined herein as the submitted texts contained in the link titled "Articles", belongs to Hackgrounds and the creator of said article. Articles are only uploaded to Hackgrounds upon agreement of both parties involved and one or more admins must read said article before being made public such that the Article is guaranteed not to break this document's guidelines, and does not infringe on other people's (members or nonmembers) rights. Anything learned from said Articles by any user is solely for the purpose of expanding the user's knowledge of a subject. Any action made by a user is the sole responsibility of said user, and not the responsibility of Hackgrounds or the creator of said Article.
Posts, defined herein as text left by a user on a page in the area labeled comments, are solely the property of the user who willfully posted them. Any information contained therein is the responsibility of said user.
Any defacements/exploits, defined as willful, accidental destruction, or bugs contained in Hackgrounds and/or other, unrelated websites/programs/security applications, posted in link form, text form, and/or code form is based solely upon said users' wish to do as such and as such all legal action brought upon said user can not/will not be associated with the funds, server, host, coders, admins, and/or members of Hackgrounds.
Any threats made against any party (associated with and not associated with Hackgrounds) is made solely at the risk of said user and as such no affiliates/members/admins of Hackgrounds can be associated with said threats.
Hackgrounds is created solely for the purpose of providing a free, legal, and safe environment to the public for learning the basics of coding and how to protect one's own code from such threats. Because of the nature of such information, Hackgrounds is not responsible for any user's use of any information gathered at Hackgrounds. No legal action may be taken against the users, admins, or host of Hackgrounds. By logging into, or by viewing anything on this site, all terms in this document must be agreed with, if or if not this document is expressly read by the user.
Hackgrounds retains the right to delete any information/user/or Mission for any reason and without express notification.
The following must be agreed to by each and every user on the site:
1. You agree that when logged into or in any other way viewing Hackgrounds, your IP address will be logged in addition to all pages viewed. This information may be used against you by the staff at Hackgrounds or the authorities upon legal warrant.
2. You agree that all information on Hackgrounds including, but not limited to "Articles" and "Missions" or any information stored in the "Forums" is for educational/personal use and will strictly abide by all laws and regulations stated by your countries' government, under consequence of law. Also, you will not use any said information for malicious use on Hackgrounds or any other remote server besides your own and/or with express consent of the owner(s) of said server.
3. In the event of said legal action, Hackgrounds will sever ties with said user and is not liable for any information/programs or anything else supplied by said site for educational purpose. Any user submitted information that breaks any laws where either the said user or the Hackgrounds server is located will be deleted upon an admin being notified, and Hackgrounds is not liable for such an event.
4. Hackgrounds and all information contained within/associated with Hackgrounds is strictly the collective property of the Hackgrounds staff, in accordance with this document. Refrain from re-using/reproducing/copying/editing any part of the remote website in whole or in part. Said actions will result in the user being removed from the website.
5. Any or all legal action brought upon Hackgrounds is to be dealt with separate from all users, and any and all information will be presented to authorities if such a search is legally warranted.
6. Any actions taken by admins must be respected by the users, if said users refuse to accept judgment, said users are no longer associated with Hackgrounds and said ex-users' computers are evidence belonging legally solely to said owner and no admin/member of Hackgrounds.
7. Any members presented with legal troubles will not be funded/helped/encouraged in any way shape or form until said legal troubles are handled. Any "help" is done at the risk of said user and is not tied to Hackgrounds, even if said user is an admin.
8. Any users caught defacing or in any other way destroying or maliciously exploiting an website and linking back to Hackgrounds, including any attack launched from an external machine, will result in said user's account being deleted. If or if not the user is identified, the IP address of said attacker will be blacklisted from the server and will not be able to connect to any Hackgrounds related material. Hackgrounds is not responsible for such actions nor justifies them in any way.
9. Any users caught defacing or in any other way destroying or maliciously exploiting Hackgrounds will be held accountable to the same as above in addition, legal action may be pursued.
10. By becoming a member at Hackgrounds, you agree to all terms outlined under the current document. Violating any terms will cause deletion of your account from the Hackgrounds database and/or banning of your IP address. Attempting to bring legal action against Hackgrounds will also result in voiding your account.
