Dear members of the community of Emupedia,
I have come to announce the project of WoWStorm - A 3rd Generation World of Warcraft Emulator, publically. -- In the year of 2005 the 20th of October, a group of eager individuals formed what is now known as WoWStorm. Since then, a lot has changed in the World of Warcraft emulation scene be that as it may, WoWStorm has chosen to stay out of the public to avoid the chaotic nature of the World of Warcraft emulation scene during this time. However, a new era is upon us the scene having barely survived the "Dark Ages" of World of Warcraft emulation now found itself clinging onto it's limb, crawling slowly towards a light. Many would interpret this "light" as the release of Antrix, we at WoWStorm have however interpreted this "light" as something different, we see this "light" as the coming of a new generation of community members, a generation of members with a new attitude, an attitude that is more open, more helpful and less treacherous. The results of this attitude has lead to many new community collaborations most of which have been very positive, Antrix is not what we consider to be on this list of positive community collaborations, therefore we don't consider it as the "light".
With this new more friendly environment, we at WoWStorm have made an important decision, we have decided to for the first time ever involve ourselves in to the community's affairs by announcing our project public. This does not imply that we are going open-source, we don't feel ready to commit to such a drastic change. However, it does imply that we will establish a kind of communication with the community, we will be making posts of our progress and other information regarding the happenings within the team and project.
Now for the technical details regarding the emulator. The emulator is written in C++ from scratch, it supports the newest World of Warcraft version, and it will run on both Linux and Windows platforms. We have had a score of developers involved in the development and revising of the code, and we strive for perfection. The coders are very dedicated to optimizing and expanding the source on a daily basis, and we will not be satisfied until it is more stable, versatile and dynamic than any World of Warcraft emulator ever released.
With that said, we hope the community will recognize us as a sovereign project and we strive to establish a strong and meaningful relationship with the community, and as a token of this we are accepting experienced coders to participate in the development of WoWStorm, if you feel that you are qualified for this position you may contact our recruting department at the following IRC channel on the Emupedia IRC server, #WoWStorm.
I hope that this formal notification is a start of a good and long relationship with the Emupedia community.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding the project. I am easily accessible during normal business hours and I would be glad to discuss the project with any credible individual as long as you are capable of exhibiting some nominal use of some professionalism.
