COMPARING TENSION AND MYSTERY IN
THE RED ROOM AND THE MONKEY’S PAW
The Red Room is a story in which a man that visits a house with a supposed haunted room inside, where he attempts to spend the night in, eventually fear begins to set in and he ends up knocking himself unconscious. The story, The Monkey’s Paw is about a man, Seargant Major Morris brings a Monkey’s Paw which is said to grant wishes, although it is later discovered that although these wishes come true, they have catestrophic reprocutions.
The man with the withered arm adds a sense of mystery to The Red Room, as the reader is curious to find out how the man gained the distorted arm.
