Yes... it's one of those dreams, the uncommon ones, where layers of reality get blurred.
I was at home in Beavercreek. I had this sort of cell phone thing (it looked a little like a Razr) that had come free in the mail, in the plastic clamshell packaging.
I don't remember what I was doing with the phone, but I was doing something. I think I started to play a game of some kind (what comes to mind is interactive fiction, or something surreal like Myst).
Like frequently happens, I entered the environment of the game.
This memory is also hazy. I was wandering around outside. The weather was nothing in particular - it was daytime, overcast, not too dry or humid. The first real detail I recall is being in some dry grass around a building, without anyone around (almost like a static environment). Absolute direction told me I was around the rear entrance of the building.
I remember going inside once to use a bathroom or something. Then I realized upon exiting that I'd forgotten to even find the bathroom, so I went back inside. After exiting again (I don't even know what I was doing inside), I realized I had again done the same thing, and this time I was about 50 meters from the entrance (still in the grass). So I again returned.
I have a vague memory or just looking around for a secluded spot outside to urinate in. (But what did it matter if I hadn't seen anyone?)
I don't know what happened next, but my environment changed. I wasn't near the building anymore, and I had entered some sort of run-down bathhouse or something, like the kind you see around campgrounds. It wasn't daylight anymore; it was night sometime.
I ascended a wooden ladder or some very steep stairs to a wooden floor in this building - imagine climbing up into a loft with a low ceiling, through what is almost a cramped tunnel.
Everything about this area felt cramped and claustrophobic - particularly, the ceilings were low and sloped down near the edges, so that you almost had to crawl. I don't know if it was dirty or damp but it wasn't very welcoming.
It also had a feeling of vertigo, like it was possibly the attic of another building, and though the floor was stable you just had too much of a sense of height from the steep ladder/stairs that you entered.
If the entry ladder/stairs were on the south wall, the north wall was only about a meter away, and to the east were 'stalls' cut into the wall, which weren't more than alcoves maybe 0.5 m deep into the wall. Above each were something like skylights, made of dirty plastic or glass; they might have been letting in some faint moonlight (I had to see somehow).
I walked by these alcoves, maybe stooping into one, and a swarm of big flying insects flew around in my face, like they either entered an open skylight or had been collecting around there. I remember them being giant cockroaches, despite that real cockroaches can't fly. (Maybe locusts?)
They scared me and irritated me, of course. They didn't make me particularly want to use this outhouse/bathhouse/whatever to relieve myself.
The environment changed slightly (or, I did something and I don't remember what). All I remember is something about the skylights.
Outside, rain started falling.
As the water hit the roof and the skylights, it was like blood. What came to mind was that the roof was covered in bloody parts and the water was carrying the blood as it ran over these parts. Whatever the case, the bloody water was leaking into the building, through the skylights or something, and I really didn't want to touch it... I just wanted to pee and get out quickly. The bloody water kept getting closer; I might have tried to close the skylights but instead they just opened more or started leaking on another edge.
I saw some rivulets of bloody water going down the entry stairs/ladder and got even more uneasy, because right now it was pretty much surrounding me and I could not get out without touching it.
Right about now, the simulation ended, like I had just lost the game.
I guess I was back in the normal dream, back at home.
I remember trying to find the power adapter for the phone, and I saw it in the back of the plastic package that the phone came in.
My dad was out in the garage and I started talking to him about what had just happened in the simulation/game, particularly the last part. There are some very distant details here that I can't recall - something about a book, or another game, or maybe details from reality mixed in and confused.
My environment changed again. I was with my uncle Mark now, and he was talking about a simulation that had many younger kids inside of it.. Whenever a kid understood a certain problem in the simulation (what came to mind here was something about Ethernet and networking) - he/she would be rewarded for it, but essentially taken out of the current level of simulation and led into another. It was like a teaching tool or something - but with another motive to be a filtering tool and search out those kids who had exceptional ability.
