I think most of your opinions are personal preference. TeamSpeak had a distinct lag that more then one of us noticed. See Below

Which is great for me since I'm somewhat close to it, but its not as steady as a server in a data center. Gerdawg makes a great point in that "PING" get enclosed in a whole QOS management crap but I feel better having it at a data center rather then a business.
We already have a 100tick public/private server. Honestly we would have no use for another server. I honestly don't think every known competitive team uses ventrilo because they think its "inferior". I dare not post in #scrimdods "6v6 - MOTW - ts.legendarygamers.net" Then when they come back saying they cant connect I tell them I'm using teamspeak..... then they laugh at me.
Teamspeak is only a solution for a problem. The problem is the need for a free voice communication. We don't need a free solution since we have agreed amongst ourselves to pay for it.
I'm sure if the Q3 team/member(s) want to pitch in we could add more slots, but again. I can only name 3 max Q3 members who I've seen in the last 6 months. I don't want it turning into a hangout for non LG people who only talk to the friends they bring in. Which is what TS became with all the randoms who don't even know which clans server it is.
Honestly Devil, your argument with the whole website module/plug in is alittle far-fetched. If people are unable to join be it teamspeak or vent from the program itself. Do we honestly need to cater to people who cant accomplish even the simplest of tasks? Also, who really wants to open a browser, click a bookmark, click a link just to see who is on. When you can open a program click connect and your connected.
I mean, if the module was soo important why didn't 3/4 of the Q3 randoms goto our webpage to see if there friends were online instead of "joining & disconnecting" It really isn't that important to see who is online from a webpage. It adds for a great story over dinner, but for the online world its kinda redundant.
I dont think you should drag Dustin's leaving LG to have something to do with vent. He was in teamspeak by himself because there are no more members who come around. Maybe if the Quake3 team was active he wouldn't have left. If you read his post he left because of LG not because of a silly thing like ventrilo.
