Job Description
Under minimal supervision, working with the mid and upper level management team at FISA, the Sr. AIX Systems Administrator will be responsible for supporting all AIX operating systems and configurations supporting critical Citywide functions including Citytime, NYCAPS and FMS. These extremely costly and complex projects will have very wide operational impact throughout City government. They will manage citywide timekeeping, Human Resources, and Budget and financial information. This individual will manage the installation of AIX operating system software, creating LPARs, managing resources, patching, upgrading, monitoring, performance/tuning and problem determination/resolution in all AIX environments. The Sr. AIX Systems Administrator will also have some responsibilities relating to SAN design and implementation and Disaster Recovery.
Essential Skills
Candidate must have thorough knowledge of IBMs AIX Operating systems and have worked on the latest versions of AIX as well working knowledge of IBM pSeries server technology. Knowledge should include IBM technologies such as Logical Partitioning, Dynamic Logical Partitioning, Server Virtualization, HACMP, and IBMs performance toolkit. A strong understanding of monitoring and capacity planning tools is required. Knowledge of EMC Symmetric SAN environment, Veritas Netbackup and BMC Patrol are a plus.
