oxigen> hey, how to build blender with a patch?
<oxigen> do you know maybe?
<BeBraw> which os?
<oxigen> ubuntu :]
<BeBraw> cool
<BeBraw> have you built svn version yet?
<oxigen> yes
<BeBraw> okay. which patch you want to use?
<BeBraw> normally patches are applied at blenderbranch/blender
<oxigen> hmm, the one with new render patch made by broken
<oxigen> i sstill need to find it
<BeBraw> k. i could give it a go too
<BeBraw> https://projects.blender.org/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=6830&group_id=9&atid=127
<oxigen> i also dont know how to get only diff from blender svn, do you?
<BeBraw> only diff?
<oxigen> yes, from last download
<oxigen> only new stuff that is
<BeBraw> "svn up" updates your branch to current status
<oxigen> ah, thanks!
<BeBraw> "svn diff > file.txt" allows you to see the difference of your branch to real one
<oxigen> that's the patch i'm looking for, yes
<BeBraw> basically you use that to make your patches
<BeBraw> to apply patch, use patch -p0 < file.txt. unapply by patch -p0 -R < file.txt
<oxigen> huh
<BeBraw> you manage patches with patch command
<oxigen> what is -p0
<BeBraw> gotta check
<BeBraw> it's about how file names within patch are handled
<BeBraw> -p0 is standard in case of blender
<BeBraw> it's about stripping slashes basically
<oxigen> ok, can you tell me full command to add patch in your local hd to be able to make build with patch applied?
<oxigen> or is there more than one step?
<BeBraw> go to blenderbranch/blender and use patch -p0 < gloss01.txt
<BeBraw> after that compile the way you want
<BeBraw> if you apply multiple patches, you can remove them by first making diff of svn and then unapplying the patch (diff file) created by using patch command
<oxigen> blenderbranch/blender is on blender. org, right?
<BeBraw> it's the branch you have downloaded
<BeBraw> the name could vary based on which branch you downloaded though
<BeBraw> *downloaded = checked out
<oxigen> ok, thanks, i'll try
<BeBraw> i think there are instructions for this at blender.org
<oxigen> k! :)
