Greetings
At the company I currently work for, we have some Dell PowerEdge 6850 servers running Suse Linux Enterprise Server 9.0. This servers have each 4 GB of RAM, and 2 GB of Swap. One of the servers is a database server running the Oracle database, it currently runs 3 instances of Oracle and some java processes. Not so long ago, the Database Administrador (DBA) wanted to run another instance of Oracle, and I was also asked to install VMWare Server, then the server began using 600M of Swap. The DBA suggested to have more RAM installed into the server or to detect the process that is using up all the memory.
When I run the free -m command, I get this output:
jason:~ # free -m
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 3950 3939 11 0 203 3263
-/+ buffers/cache: 473 3477
Swap: 2054 26 2028
My questions are:
1. What hardware should I have to run several Oracle instances? What should I take into account?
2. With the free -m output I attached, could you tell me if the server really has memory problems?
3. What's the real amount of free memory, 11MB or 3477MB?
4. How do I detect which is the process that is consuming the most memory? I've tried using top, ps and pmap; and all of them give different values of memory usage, which one should I trust? In this link I've put the values that each of these commands output: http://pastebin.ca/563472
Thank you for the help.

Cordial saludo.
jason:~ # free -m
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 3950 3939 11 0 203 3263
-/+ buffers/cache: 473 3477
Swap: 2054 26 2028
Mis preguntas son:
