- Hello,
- I am working to package genpo for inclusion in the Ubuntu repositories (0) and intend to submit it for inclusion in Debian as well. I am soliciting your input on the preferred default configuration to ensure that users first experience genpo as intended.
- I have been reviewing the genpo source tarball (1) and have encountered a few issues regarding its copyright and licensing, as I must follow the Debian Free Software Guidelines (2) when contributing packages. Would you please comment on the following:
- 1) The README says "Free & Open source", but I do not see any license file or statement of a specific license. I am guessing you intend to use the GPL (3) given that the files in src/ have a GPL header, but if this is the case, the text of the GPL states you need to distribute a copy of the GPL (4) in its entirety along with the source.
- 2) The files appear to be copyright 2003, but some have been updated recently. Are these now copyright 2003-2007?
- 3) I do not see any license information for the ORGANS/ directory. Are these files also redistributable under the GPL? If so, my understanding is that they also need header comments or otherwise be specifically described as so licensed.
- I would really like to get genpo into the Ubuntu and Debian repositories. Please let me know if I can help in any way to resolve this.
- Thank you.
