Young Golfer Gives The Experienced Something to Groan About
Tiger woods eat your heart out. Jack Davis has played golf in scotland, japan, and in the former soviet untion. Last tournament he bested his opponent by more than 19 strokes. started playing golf at age two. He is right handed and has 20:15 vision. Jack Davis’ most recent competition was in his hometown at the Scotch Plains Fanwood Open. Most recently he has competed in the Scotch Plains Fanwood Open held june 9th. He left with the first place trophy. Davis beat a horde of experienced golfers by a long shot and has a shocking secret. Jack Davis is only 14 years old. What is even more astounding is that he was at least a few decades younger than his experienced opponents and was still able to secure the gold.

Davis parred the first hole along with the second hole. After such a successful start everyone’s small-talk consisted of making wisecracks such as Davis being young enough to be one of their children. But Davis continued in fast pursuit. He bogeyed the third hole, double-eagled the fourth, and double-bogeyed the fifth. The playful banter stopped and turned into added frustration as the SPF open started to heat up. Davis pressed onward. He shot parred holes six to twelve and shot one under par on hole thirteen. Most consider thirteen an unlucky number but to Davis it meant he was more than halfway closer to the gold. Davis birdied on holes 14-16. Almost at the finish line, Davis wowed onlookers as he parred the last two holes. Another fantastic showing for Davis had landed him his hometown title and a boastful golden trophy.

Media attention has lead Davis head first into the public eye. As a result he has been accused of, but never found guilty of, betting on his own games. He likes to say that the only treasure he gets from playing golf is the experience and not personal gain. Davis has left the whole ordeal without a scratch. He said what gave him the strength to push onward and continue to focus on his golf thought the accusations was a call from Tiger Woods, a lifelong idol. Woods told Davis that he had heard the recent accusations and was appalled. He told Davis that he reminded him of himself when he was younger. He also added that he knew Davis was a fellow who’s golf wouldn’t be half as good had it not been guided by good morals. Davis didn’t say much to Woods but was flattered when Woods told him that he greatly admired Davis’ achievements in golf.

After getting the miraculous chance to talk to his idol Davis is eager to see what the future will bring to his golf. He says he will always prefer going to Shackamaxon, his local golf course, rather then the professional ones he has been invited to join. For Davis, hometown spirit means everything. He says that the kids at his high school, Scotch Plains Fanwood High School, have helped bring him this far and hometown spirit and the love for golf are his ways of paying them back for all they have taught him.
