We could not "Make a news post" because the site was not up to make one on. As we have been saying for days, the nameserver and registrar hiccuped. That's all. As made evident by the factthe site is up, we are clearly dealing with it. Until it's fixed, however, you have to use the IP to access it. Everything is being worked on as fast as we can.
However, we're human. Most of the staff have become sleep-deprived, sick, or otherwise injured because of the demands and stress this has caused on us. Yet, we keep doing this, in SPITE of our own health, because we want the site to be up as soon as possible for the users.
The fact that some users have demonstrated a clear disregard for us as people, although hurtful, has not deterred us from doing our jobs and what we know is best, but it is certainly frustrating. Honestly, we KNOW you all want to play the site, and for those of you being patient, we sincerely, sincerely thank you and we honestly appreciate it more than you know or could ever understand. If you aren't, however, I hope you will reconsider your actions.
The site is not run "by the users". It's not an oligarchy (which is when the entire community, in this case the site, makes the decisions instead of officials). The site is run by staff members who are ALSO users, and thus understand the site far better than normal staff members or normal users ever could. We play the site, so we understand it. We play the site, so we understand what is best.
You do not need to be brought into EVERY detail of the site. Hence why we have staff in the first place. You are brought into MUCH of the site, more than most other petsites allow their users to see or have an opinion about. The staff listen to the users, and actively at that. We give you SO many privileges and give you the ability to see and have a say in so much. But if we allowed the users to see and have a say in everything the site simply wouldn't work. It's not an opinion, it's fact. We do not hide information, we do not make it unavailable, so please, don't claim we did just because you didn't know where to look.
I posted my AIM on my PROFILE. It's still there, and it's still DarkLight666, and as I am only online 18 hours a day you have been always free to IM me and ask me what's up. The IRC is available (server Caelestia, #subeta), and always has been. Staff are in there, too. If you need to download a program I recommend mIRC or HydraIRC, but there are a lot of others, too.
In short, if you are quitting or threatening to quit because of sheer impatience in an attempt to make us go faster or something similar, please, it won't do anything. We are doing everything we can, as fast as we can. But we're humans (well, most of us). We aren't robots. We're sacrificing our lives right now to insure you all have fun faster. Threatening us won't do anything besides frustrate and hurt us. We give you AMPLE contact with the staff. Please use it before complaining about it not existing. But really. We do everything we humanly can. We always do, day in and day out. Please remember that.
