Nan & Lia,

Here's a break down of what equipment will need for us to install your network and phone system. I will try to include links to sites that sell the equipment, approximent pricing, etc. If you have any questions, just reply or call me (612.578.8380). With that said, let's go shopping:

24 port CAT-5e patch panel - this keeps the network wiring organized and allows us to make changes quickly and easily
$36.85 + S/H - http://www.deepsurplus.com/s.nl/sc.2/category.281/it.A/id.169/.f

7U (12" Deep) Wall Mounting Bracket - this is what we mount the patch panel and network switch on, as well as any other rack-mountable components you may aquire
$43.75 + S/H - http://www.deepsurplus.com/s.nl/sc.2/category.289/it.A/id.451/.f

24 port network switch - this connects all the network wiring together
$79.99 + S/H with $20 mail-in rebate - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1510700&CatId=868

1000 ft. spool plenum (safe for installing in suspended ceilings) CAT-5e network cable. This should be purchased at Home Depot. I would like to remove all the current cable in case we experience some problems with it. It should be the same amount of work either way, and cable is pretty cheap. We can reuse the cable we remove for patch cables, etc. If want to make our job really easy, you could buy 4 spools, since then we don't have to "cut and run" each cable individually. If course it's up to you.

Lia you have a list of other supplies we will need which can also be purchased at Home Depot, CAT-5e connectors, etc. Please add to that list CAT-5 connector ends, which are the plastic male ends that you crimp on the cables. We will need about 48.

That concludes the network shopping list. Now we move on to the VoIP phone system list.

A server to install the phone system is the first thing we need. I found a decent machine that I use for a server which we could easily upgraded with another CPU and memory for less than $300 total. -- http://cgi.ebay.com/Dell-PowerEdge-1300-Server-P3-800-256-2x-9-Hard-Drive_W0QQitemZ9716295859QQcategoryZ51225QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

The next piece of the puzzle are IP phones. These work with the phone system over the network, they will not work with a standard phone line. I am recommending the Linksys SPA941, which allows 2 lines per phone
$150 + S/H - http://store.voxilla.com/customer/product.php?productid=16199&cat=267&page=1

Hardware is needed to connect your phone lines and your fax machine to the phone system. What you need is a TDM400P with 1 FXO module and 3 FXS modules, which will accomodate up to three phone lines from your phone service provider.
$420 + S/H - I am getting a quote from a reseller I have worked with in the past.

After we have installed the network and phone system, we can set up a solution for you to access the office network from your house. That should just about do it. Contact me with any questions. We will need this stuff in-hand in a couple weeks.

Bless you guys,

J
