That sounds like a reasonable idea. I've been looking into the situation and it seems to be a combination of a poor choice of motherboard, mis-communication, and bad luck. I had originally, when deciding to colocate machines, ask sales which board you guys use on your boxes (to avoid this exact issue), and sent in two servers with those motherboards, but the motherboards were complete junk (would crash constantly). So I had been sending in asus ones, but they only tend to work about half the time it would seem (some sort of compatibility issue that surfaces intermittantly). Between me and Marco, 3 of our servers are using gigabyte motherboards, and they've worked right off the bat each time.
So, for the future, I will go ahead and build them myself here with the gigabyte motherboards and send them in. I understand your need to make money on the servers you host, and pouring so many hours into these servers is not a way to do that.
I still wanted to let you know about the potential support issue, because I had noticed a decline in friendliness, response times, and attention to detail, even before I started sending in colocated boxes, especially during the day shift. For this reason, I usually like to do tickets at night, but the night shift usually doesnt have access to shipped hardware and sometimes doesnt have the authority to do certain tasks.
Thank you for your attention in this matter,
Gabe
