Hi everyone,
Now that we've more or less got the hard stuff out of the way for the
canterbury->blackburn move, there are a few things that have changed which
you need to know.
1. Direct phone numbers
For the time being, your direct number at Canterbury (if you had one) has
changed from 03 9831 26xx to 03 8878 26xx, where the xx corresponds to your
2-digit extension (50-something or 60-something.) For instance, my previous
direct number was 03 9831 2666, it's now 03 8878 2666. These new numbers are
going to be valid for as long as we're using AAPT ISDN for our direct
indials; this may change, but it should be safe enough to hand these numbers
out to suppliers/customers/etc.
The switchboard/main number is (by extension of the above) 03 8878 2600.
2. Fax number
The new fax number is 03 9877 0422. Redirection from the old fax number will
be done later this week. As at Canterbury, the cordless phone (upstairs,
located next to the fax) shares this line.
3. Remote access
Remote access via a VPN connection still works, but you'll need to change the
destination address in your VPN settings. Double-click on the icon, click
the 'connection settings' box (or similar), and change the destination phone
number/address from "61.9.147.85" (old canterbury IP address)
to "203.206.182.161" (new address here.) Other than this one small change,
nothing else needs to be reconfigured. If you're having problems here, let
me know and I'll come and set you up.
4. Alarm system
The alarm system needs to be disarmed by the first person in at the start of
the day (you'll know if this is you, I'd suggest), and re-armed by the last
person out the door at the end of the day.
The alarm panel is on the left side of the closest wall of the
boardroom/conferenceroom as you walk in the front door. Disarming the system
is as simple as typing your unique 4-digit code into the panel. Re-arming
the system is a shade more subtle, you'll need to make sure that everybody
else has left the office, and stand in front of the panel until all of the
various activity lights go out, and the green 'secure' light comes on. When
this condition is met, you can arm the alarm by entering the same 4-digit
code. The 'armed' light will then activate, and you have roughly 20 seconds
to leave the building. Be careful locking the door after the alarm is armed.
5. Phones
Please let me know if you don't have a phone; we've ordered a more, and there
are a couple coming from Eltham.
6. Network outlets.
We have a very limited number of Cat5 network outlets here. If you need an
additional outlet, it's possible to multiplex two 2-pair outlets over one
piece of 4-pair Cat5, let me know if this is necessary. You can also plug
your PC into the 'PC' port on your phone, and phones can be cascaded in this
fashion given enough cable.
7. Anything else
If I've missed anything, please drop me a note and I'll see what I can do. If
I've missed sending this to anyone, please forward it on and let me know.
Regards to all,
