After hearing [a tale of success](http://avalonstar.com/blog/2007/may/04/my-reasons-for-django/) from [Bryan Veloso](http://avalonstar.com/) about (Django)[http://www.djangoproject.com/], I decided to try it out. I had never ventured into [Python](http://www.python.org/), but I really wanted to, so I figured the best way that I could do this was to just jump right in.
It was perfect timing. I had just moved to a VPS by [Slicehost](http://www.slicehost.com/) (by the way, these guys are great), and so I would be able to tweak [Apache](http://httpd.apache.org/) and [`mod_python`](http://modpython.org/) to do my willing. The setup of Django was very simple -- all I had to do was download the tarball, unzip it, then do some Python magic.
All I can say so far is that Django is so amazing it seems like magic. I've used [CakePHP](http://cakephp.org/) before, but this is no comparison. Not to say that CakePHP isn't a good library (PHP is, after all, rather limiting), but for me, Django blows everything else out of the water. Every new thing I learn about Django just has me going, "*exactly* what I wanted to do."
Now to do views, XML-RPC, and anything else I can think of. Oh, and Markdown and SmartyPants.
