In Cry, the Beloved Country fear rules the land. The fear in South Africa is caused by many things. There is fear of injustice, There is fear in failure, and there is fear of no future. There is also no hope and without hope there is nothing. "Hope. . . is the best and last of all things. Without it, there is only time." Once the people gain hope for future and life it will bring an end to their fear. The only way to alleviate the fear in South Africa is for everyone to become successful, honest, and equal.
The main cause of fear in South Africa is racism. "Racism is a primary force of evil designed to destroy good men." Evil is causing the destruction of South Africa and causing the racial segregation that is leading the Zulu to hate the white africaners. It splits the balance of the people, it makes the whites and blacks unequal. Racism is the reason black people murder white people. It's the reason white people look down on black people. The only way to end racism is for everyone to realize that they are all human and put on earth equal.
Another cause of fear is the thought of no future. When a person knows that they are going no where in life what is there to do. The thought of no future leads to theft, drugs, prostitution, and many other bad things. The people with a future and jobs fear to lose those things in South Africa. They are afraid to get stuff stolen from them or attacked by those that have no future.
In Cry, the Beloved Country there are many problems that lead to fear. All humans are equal and once everyone realizes that the idea of racism will lessen more and more. Another way to end fear in South Africa is for everyone to become successful and to become employed and a have a life to support. The main way to end the fear is for we, the human race, need to work together and realize that everyone is born on this earth to live life with no pain or suffering as equals.
