Building a House

Every day I wake up,
Starting from preschool to this present day,
I feel like I am building my own house.

With every new day,
I add something new,
I take things away,
I add knowledge, wisdom, success,
I take away immaturity, irresponsibility.

At my Graduation,
The final touches to my house will be complete,
The paint on my house will polish me,
The windows will open to help me see new opportunities,
A door that will shut itself when I need my mouth to be shut,
A roof to hold my ideas and memories,
A chimney to let my steam off,
A staircase to have conflict in life,
A bed to sleep in,
A pillow to cry on.

With every new touch I gain something new,
Whether it is happiness, sadness, or both,
Each of these trims will open opportunities for my future,
A future that will be like no other,
A future that will be mine.
