Government is in quotes, because I have read a lot of posts, and there always seems to be some large body handling things. I am not so sure.
I have an easier time explaining my concept of HOW this system works in computer terms. BTW- the computer description is also a rather new-ish idea that is from a bunch of sources, AND is a marketable product that we are developing for both internal use and external sale. So I will kill two birds with one post Smile
It is funny because there is also a likeness between our current politics/computer systems. In most networks there are "servers". These are authoritarian in nature and control how things happen. Even in most Clusters there is still a real big grand-whompy computer that is in charge. The supercluster I describe below is a very different beast.
NOTE-- per Ralith- I ended up putting this post in a private versus public area. The original intent was to put in a public place because I think it is important to show the idea to the world. However, because it contains the description of a computer network that is a new invention and hence patentable- it may not be wise to do this under ONE post. So we will need to divide the idea into two posts- one for computer network, one for govt. The computer network post will remain private, while the govt system will be posted under a public area. So i am asking for help in creating that single govt post.
Radiance SuperCluster:
The super cluster is made up of "work" nodes. This means tasks are divided into global areas. I will represent these as capital letters.
ABCDEFG....... A is responsible for web serving, B is responsible for work load distribution, C is responsible for performing data backups .... etc
The letters do not represent single computers at this level, but they represent a "group". So if we break A work node into its actual parts we find the following computers: 123456789a. (a) is shown as a computer but is actually a sub-group made up of computers a1,a2,a3,a4,a5 which are doing specific sub-task of Tomcat (java) serving.
There are similar cluster ideas out there, and possibly pretty close to exact thing. What is different is this is not a lab where the computers are hand selected and have bazillion dollar switches in between them. Those are nice, and can be plugged into this concept as well, however this idea applies to all computers- workstations. (think of a workstation as a person).
Ok, so imagine this computer system. Now imagine you just booted up your own machine. What will happen is this. The computer will announce itself and its capabilities (ram, cpu speed, current processing load for gui, userland stuff) and it will join the group it fits best. So imagine i bring up a computer that is not the fastest cpu load, but has brand new scsi drives. Obviously it fits in some groups better then others. Ok so lets expand that- this particular workstation has 4 tb of scsi drives (yeah i know- what workstation is like that- i am exaggerating to show the point better). It would join the file serving group based off of the needs that B node says is needed. Now the file serving group HAD 15 computers, however when this new workstation joined, it did away with the need of the least capable machines in the group, so now this group is 10 machines. The other 6 machines will join the next best suited groups, and if work load is light, can actually go into a holding area, or a comericalized processing pool (meaning it is spare cycles, disk, etc that can be resold to others like excess electricity).
So the B node is sort of like the administration of FNF. Not so much authoritative, but instead it is merely fulfilling needs. It is the closest things to centralized govt, however, it is not authoritative. The code in the clustering software is basically holding elections between computers seeing which one belongs where. The B admin node is merely providing a list of current needs. Groups are in a state of flux- growing-shrinking as needed. If a group becomes unnecessary it is elminated and the individual parts reassign themselves, again based on node B's assessment of needs.
Obviously there are some infrastructure problems with current WAN networks that make this system problematic for now. Mostly data storage would not be into this pool at first- and would be set machines. This is because current networks just are not fast enough to move that much data in between machines, so the first attempts will be hybrids. Just like the people. Except with people it is not a bandwidth issue, but a personal issue of how they view other people and what they value.
Ok- so if we were to put this to human terms. When a person joins the fnf- their skills are assessed by themselves and OTHERS. They are given choices of WHAT IS NEEDED (this prevents people from just joining and making pretty background pictures even though it may or may not be needed). The admin group (us) is not authoritarian to the individual at all (with the exception of actually getting in).
Hopefully what we end up with is a decentralized system, that is actually more efficient as it has no power-leadership perse, just computers that take different roles at different times. It is a system that actually rewards aptitude. Now we are not impersonal machines, so there is a layer of emotion, compassion, love of our fellow human beings, that computers do not have to worry about. Hence they are more efficient. There is no way we abandon the sick, the feeble, etc. Really the only thing that would separate a person out of the system, is their unwillingness to be part of the system. Which if happens just means they have basically exiled themselves.
Ok so we have 50 groups of 100 people in FNF (lets say). 5k person population. One of the current groups has a disruptive personality who wishes to make the entire FNF a personal dictatorship or similar ideas. Lets say they influence their group to go along with this somehow. Their "bad" ideas will be isolated in such a system, as the other 49 groups will look at them and think they are nuts, people will stop joining that group- more people will leave. Eventually, that group will shrink, the overall organism will reroute tasks around it, and the bad seed(s) will be basically shunned Smile Individuals can leave (exile) on their own accord or change and rejoin fnf. Of course the opposite can happen. If one of the 49 groups has a really good change that is beneficial to the overall organism, other groups will pick it up, becoming more efficient themselves, until the idea propogates throughout the fnf. Not so much a formal government system and more like an evolving organism.
Whew- that was a mouthful. Yes, there are holes, yes the idea is not done. However, I think there is enough good here to develop further. What say you?
