Hi all,

Hope you had a good Easter (and more productive than mine...)

The next SSCOM meeting is next Wednesday 2nd May, so please email me if you have any suggestions. There's only one more meeting left this year, so this will be the last opportunity if you want to get feedback before next year.

I'd also like to know your views on the effectiveness of the SSCOM, and if you think your views are being heard and dealt with fairly (and if I can do anything to improve). One of the other reps has stated that the Diploma students' are not happy how the SSCOM is run.

I've attached one of the emails between the rep and the chairman, as well as his formal complaint to ask the chairman to stand down (which was refused, as the chairman cannot be removed except by the decision of a higher body). I'd be very interested to hear your views on this and whether you agree with Simon.

Thanks,
Cheryl

FORMAL COMPLAINT

Hello Professor Hopper;

I am the Diploma Student Representative and I would like to raise a formal complaint with you about the Chair of the Staff Student Consultative Committee.

The complaint is simple and supported by the unrefutable evidence attached. The Chair:

    1, does not listen to the student requests
    2, goes back on agreements
    3, unilaterally changes the official record

Given these and other issues, I believe it is fair for students to question whether the Chair is suitable for such an important position and for you to question whether he represents our views and requests to the Staff Committee in a full and unbiased light.

Evidence is provided in the e-mails, recordings and links below and I hereby formally request that you ask the SSCOM Chair to stand down.

Simon Spacey
Diploma Student Representative
