im having a file like this: 

 CUST_COD C SALES PACK_CO SUBSCRIBE BILL_ INV_DATE    BILL_AMT

it is a fixed length file

now i keep one line in a variable x:
ie x = '        21 N 80    F599MY3 21-APR-97 80    30-NOV-03      53910 '

now i want to split it like
x1 = 21
x2 = N
x3 = 80
.
.
.
.
x8 = 53910

how to split like this?
