At approximately 10:45pm central standard time last night, the Softlayer Datacenter In the Telecom hotel of Dalas, Texas

(One of the biggest, and most recognized datacenters of the United States which we currently operate from) had a massive

power failure, taking down thousands of servers across the entire web hosting industry. The 2500AMP G was replaced and

websites across the country began to slowly come back up as the power was restored. This of course being in the web

hosting news across the internet, had a big impact on the operations of many web site owners. Here is the press release

from the SoftLayer Datacenter.

Date: 04-14-2007 Start time (CDT): 22:00 Services Affected: Power SR02 Device: Main ATS Switch Location: dal01 Duration:

Emerging Issue Description: At 10:00PM, SoftLayer Datacenter lost power to all racks in SR02 and 5 racks in SR01, and one

rack in SR03. This was due to a power transfer from generator to utility due to inclement weather in the DFW area. During

the transfer, a 2500amp breaker failed placing all power on UPS backup power. After roughly 30 minutes on battery backup,

power to the specified datacenters began to go offline. Electricians are onsite replacing the 2500amp main breaker with a

cold swap spare kept onsite. ETA has been set to a maximum of 2 hours. We expect this situation to be resolved by 12:00AM

CST. The emergency reponse team is onsite trying there hardest to get things back in order

hosted accounts for some period of time. Some system services, such as Webmail, Cpanel and Fantastico may be unavailable

during this downtime. We recommend that you let your clients know (any that are on the automail list will have received a
