Hello, Ben. Welcome to Live Technical Support. My name is Anthony.
Alberteinstein47 stated the question or problem as: .
Are you signed on with the same computer that you need assistance with?
You say, hello?
TechLiveAMOG says, I am not able to determine exactly what type of assistance you need. If you could restate your question or provide more information, I'll be more than happy to assist you.
You say, Yes.
You say, I received an AOL fraud email. What should I do?
TechLiveAMOG says, Do you still have the e-mail?
You say, yes
TechLiveAMOG says, Could you please forward the e-mail to me at screen name TechLiveAMOG so that I can check on it for you? Thank you.
You say, yes. I assume your domain is aol.com?
TechLiveAMOG says, Yes.
You say, (by the way, a little bit of feedback for you, I don't like the way AOL assumes the domain is aol.com if none is selected).
TechLiveAMOG says, Please go to AOL Keyword: Tell Us. You can submit comments and suggestions at any time. AOL does use this feedback to improve the service.
You say, wait
You say, 1 sec
TechLiveAMOG says, Sure.
You say, I sent it
You say, (and I like the way AOL's mail server is so quick to download mail).
TechLiveAMOG says, Thank you. Please hold while I read the e-mail you sent.
You say, oh sorry
You say, it appears there is no text in the email when I forwarded it
You say, unless that's just AOL
TechLiveAMOG says, Thank you for waiting. I appreciate your patience.
TechLiveAMOG says, Let me explain this to you.
You say, no thanks
TechLiveAMOG says, That e-mail is a scam. We have a specific department that investigates those e-mails. To investigate it, we must have the actual e-mail. Please forward those e-mail(s) to screen name: TOSReports@aol.com
You say, nice
You say, I see
TechLiveAMOG says, Also,
You say, but I want to keep the page as a file befor it expires.
TechLiveAMOG says, You may receive e-mail or Instant Message notes from individuals asking for your AOL Screen Name, Password, or other personal information. They sometimes pose as official AOL staff members using Screen Names that appear to be official.
You say, I like it
TechLiveAMOG says, It may be a gateway for a hacker to hack your account.
You say, why?
You say, Don't I have to give info first?
You say, or does AOL have security holes like MS IE?
You say, <Microsoft Internet Explorer>
TechLiveAMOG says, Junk e-mailers obtain screen names from Chat Rooms, Message Boards, and AOL Profiles. We seek out these individuals and prosecute them to the full extent of the law; however, we need your help to do that.
TechLiveAMOG says, To reduce your chances of being spammed, create a screen name that you use exclusively for Web surfing and/or chat rooms. Set the mail controls for that screen name to block all e-mail. Friends and family should e-
mail you at your "regular" screen name.
TechLiveAMOG says, Some junk mail includes a reply address where you can request to be removed from the mailing list. AOL recommends you NOT respond to junk mail. Any reply, even a removal request, helps to confirm your e-mail address and shows that you've read the message.
You say, <reads>
TechLiveAMOG says, If you wish to keep that screen or whatever, it is your wish.
You say, yes
You say, but how do I do that?
TechLiveAMOG says, To keep your computer and your AOL account safe, NEVER click on hyperlinks or download attached files in e-mail sent to you by strangers. And NEVER enter your screen name and password into a Web page unless you're using AOL Mail or IM at www.aol.com.
You say, I know a decent bit about computers
TechLiveAMOG says, AOL staff will never ask you for personal information such as your password or full credit card
number. Please keep your AOL Screen Name and Password safe and private.
You say, I know
TechLiveAMOG says, I understand that.
You say, but how do I capture the page so I can view it even after the updated page expires?
TechLiveAMOG says, You can save it in your favorites.
You say, yes but what if the page expires?
TechLiveAMOG says, I apologize, but that cannot be resolved.
You say, yes ok
You say, how come I can't even get a context menu on the fraud site?
TechLiveAMOG says, Which context menu are you referring to?
You say, right-click
TechLiveAMOG says, It is a fraud page designed by hackers, I cannot comment on that.
You say, yes but there is only so much you can do with Javascript
TechLiveAMOG says, Let me tell you I am not a hacker and I don't know what you can do.
You say, yes well I hope you're not a hacker
You say, not that I trusted AOL with any of my personal information
TechLiveAMOG says, Is there anything else I can assist you with at this time?
You say, yes
You say, how much does AOL cost?
You say, for one account?
TechLiveAMOG says, You need to get in touch with our billing department regarding the cost.
TechLiveAMOG says, The number is 1-888-265-8003.
TechLiveAMOG says, Not to rush you, but are you still with me?
TechLiveAMOG says, Please send a message that you are still with me, or I will have to end this session to help the next person in line.
You say, yes
TechLiveAMOG says, Unfortunately, we are not able to communicate for some reason. Please close this session and try going to AOL Keyword: Live Help again.
You say, no
You say, I'm here
You say, sorry
TechLiveAMOG says, Okay.
You say, ok
TechLiveAMOG says, Did you take down the Billing number?
You say, 1 sec
You say, 1 question:
You say, how much email storage does AOL provide?
TechLiveAMOG says, AOL will keep up to 1000 pieces of New Mail, 550 pieces of Old Mail and 550 pieces of Sent Mail
per screen name at any given time. However, there are also different time limits for how long the mail will be kept online in
each of those boxes.
TechLiveAMOG says, Unread mail remains in your New Mail list for about 27 days. Once you open an e-mail, the AOL software automatically transfers it to your Old Mail list. But if you click the KEEP AS NEW button for the e-mail, it's kept like
other unread mail.
TechLiveAMOG says, Mail remains in the Old Mail list for 1-7 days depending on how your mail preference for keeping old mail is set. E-mail you send remains in the Sent Mail list for up to 27 days.
TechLiveAMOG says, The Saved on AOL folder allows you to save e-mail on the AOL servers, which makes the e-
mail messages available when you are signed onto AOL on other computers or when you are signed on as a Guest. Your Saved on AOL folder has a 100 MB limit.
You say, :(
You say, AOL's storage sucks
You say, no offense
You say, ever heard of gmail?
You say, but hey 100 mb is enough for me
TechLiveAMOG says, No one except AOL gives you a 100 MB limit.
TechLiveAMOG says, Please go to AOL Keyword: Tell Us. You can submit comments and suggestions at any time. AOL does use this feedback to improve the service.
You say, let's see...MSN 250 mb
You say, !!
You say, gmail 1000 mb!
You say, my personal domain 3000 mb!
TechLiveAMOG says, Excellent !!
TechLiveAMOG says, Please go to AOL Keyword: Tell Us. You can submit comments and suggestions at any time. AOL does use this feedback to improve the service.
You say, :)
You say, would you like a gmail invite
You say, you can have one if you want
TechLiveAMOG says, No thank you.
You say, ok. Is your aol account like a regular account or do you have admin?
TechLiveAMOG says, I apologize, but I cannot divulge any personal information.
You say, :-)
You say, nice icon
TechLiveAMOG says, :-}
You say, I won't bother you don't worry
You say, at least I'll try :-)
TechLiveAMOG says, Thank You.
TechLiveAMOG says, Is there anything else I can assist you with at this time?
You say, um...
You say, where is my AOL personal info stored?
TechLiveAMOG says, Are you trying to play with me?
You say, NO!!! I'm serious! Is it on my computer?
You say, Just asking
TechLiveAMOG says, You have a sound knowledge of computers and I understand that.
You say, Well I'm sorry I bothered you
