there will be no compiz community but compiz-extra community
I can not see any reason for this to happen, this is still about compiz.
because for users, there will be nothing to talk about compiz, as it isn't usable without extras.

The only reason that compiz-extra was created was because people did not want to touch the core, but leave it on David

i disagree. compiz-extras was made for separating the core and the WM. as i said, different WMs can be built on top of that core, and extras will jsut be the first one to do that (and we all hope not the last one  ).

A package with 30+ plugins is an overkill i believe, after all very few are actually making a difference (i personally use ony 2, animation and trailfocus)
Ubuntu for example has gandalfn who is packaging for them and i believe that for their users sake they will at the least filter the plugins before they include them in their repos. Imagine after say 2 years to have 100 plugins, it will not look very pretty
I would like to hear what people think, and i hope that there hasn't been any final decission before we clear everything here
i agree that a package with 30 plugins will be ugly, but that doesn't mean those 30 plugins can't be part of one project.
the new project can do packages like plugins-base and plugins-extras or something like that, but again, all the plugins are maintained under the same merged project.
