A lot of us have put a lot of work in to smoothing over all the 'important things'. We've done a complete rewrite of our settings stuff in a way that's suitable to people from Compiz. We've worked on porting our extra ~100k lines of plugins and apps. We've worked on compiling a comprehensive list of differences, and we've worked on deciding on what we do and don't want to keep. We've put well over 100 man hours in to all of this.
Now we are asking you to cede one point, and to be frank we've already worked out most of the rest of the issues, and the others can be worked out easily.
It might not be an important issue to you, but it's an important issue to a lot of people, and the lack of compromise on this one point is all that's holding up a merge.
So please, for the sake of both of the communities, cede one point, I feel that we have ceded our fair share.
