WHAT IS THE QURAN?
--
Ever since the Quran was revealed more than 1.400 years ago, no Christian, Jew or atheist has been able to find in it a single flaw. This stands in contrast to their own books---namely the Bible and the Torah---in which a great many errors distort the revelations of past prophets due to constant modification.
The Quran says in 004.082: "Do they not consider the Quran? Had it been from other than Allah, surely they would have found therein much discrepancy." As such, the Quran is inimitable. It says in 002.023: "And if you are in doubt about which We have revealed, then bring one chapter like it." This is because it is written with the highest level of rhetorics (ability to please and persuade) and eloquence (accuracy in choice of words and sentence structure) ever before seen, no matter what the language.
But the most amazing thing of them all, must be how it explains about ourselves and the world around us:
--
The creation of the universe through the big bang. The Quran says in 021.030: "Do not the Unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were joined together as one, before we clove them asunder? We made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?"
--
Expansion of the universe, as recently proven by the Hubble Space Telescope. The Quran says in 051.047: "We created the heavens with strength, and verily, We are expanding it."
--
Orbital movement by objects in space. The Quran says in 036.040: "It is He who created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon: All the celestial bodies swim along, each in its rounded course." and in 051.007: "By the sky full of paths and orbits."

The earth is protected by seven layers, each with its own function: The troposphere, turning clouds into rain. The stratosphere, or the ozon layer, rejecting certain types of radiation. The termosphere, neutralizing other types of radiation. The mesosphere, burning up millions of meteors every day. The ionosphere, allowing radiowaves to return back to earth making satellite communication possible. The exosphere, deciding what atoms and molecules are allowed to enter our atmosphere, and at last, the Van Allen Belt, shielding us from solar flares equivalent to the forces of billions of nuclear bombs.
The Quran says in 002.029: "It is He who has created for you all things that are on earth; Moreover His design comprehended the heavens, for He gave order and perfection to the seven firmaments; and of all things He has perfect knowledge." And in 021.032: "We made the sky a preserved and protected roof, yet do they turn away from the signs which these things point to!" As well as in 086.011: "By heaven with its returning system."

The recent astronomical discovery that iron came to earth by meteors from exploding stars. Iron is produced in the core of big stars. When the amount of iron exceeds a star's capacity, it explodes into a supernova, sending all its content out into the universe in the form of meteors. The Quran says in 057.025: "We sent down iron, with which there is material for mighty war, as well as benefits for mankind."
--
Surface tension in oceanography, where different seas with different densities don't mix as if a thin wall were between them, is also explained. The Quran says in 055.019: "He has let free the two seas, meeting together: Between them is a barrier that is not transgressed."

In modern science, information recently became of equal importance to force and matter in the existence of the universe. The information in a single cell, for instance, would require more data storage than we will ever be able to invent. The Quran says in 031.027: "If all the earth's trees were pens and the all the oceans ink, with seven more oceans to add to its supply, yet the words of Allah would not suffice in writing: for Allah is Exalted in Power, Full of Wisdom."
--
Geologic isostasy, where mountains function as nails keeping the earth's surface together, preventing natural disaster. The Quran says in 021.031: "We placed firmly embedded mountains on the earth, so that it would not move under them." Futher, we also find an explanation for continental drifting, as in 027.088: "You will see the mountains you reckoned to be solid going past like clouds: Such is the artistry of God, who disposes of all things in perfect order; for He is well acquainted with all that you do."

The fact that living organisms were most likely formed in mud (a mixture of earth and water), along with the energy of the sun. The Quran says in 018.086: "Until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it set in a spring of murky water: Near it he found a people."
