: : OOC: Hello Admiral,
: : I am new to STF and am wanting to get involved with engineering and design of starships here in STF. I wanted to ask a question, I know there is not such a large need for warships of the line right now, however I have a pretty heft design I would like to introduce, but first wanted to get approval since most ships in development right now are science. My logic in needing a new warship is that in the after wake of the War, there weren't many offensive vessels left to protect the Federation from further threats. After reading many articles, it was thought that over 50% of the fleet had been wiped out. Even though the primary mission of Starfleet is exploration, you still need a few big boys to scare the enemies away. Let me know what you think.
: : Thanks!

: Hello Stephen! It's great to see a new face taking an interesting in the ED. I'm Lee Bridgeford, the Assistant Engineering Director.
:
: I can tell you right now that we're not looking for another design of any job until we've filled our contract list, which at the moment includes a Medium Surveyor.
:
: However, I would be very interested to see what you've got. You may send it to me at STFBridgeford@mchsi.com. In the meantime, check out the links at the top of the MOTD for the Milwaukee Plan and the New Navy Plan classifications and guidelines, as well as the Ship Specification Standardized Format (SSSF) for our spec structure.
:
: If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to post them here, or email me at the address above.

: Welcome again!

Hi, Stephen!

I just wanted to add to Lee's welcome here and encourage you to work with him on your concept, and then your spec. We're always looking for things that are different than what we have now, just not more of the same thing (like Larry pointed out one too many times ;)). Right now, we're very focused on the Surveyor class because STF doesn't have one of those. The links that Lee pointed out on the MOTD give you all sorts of information on how things work in the ED.

Thanks so much for getting involved! I really enjoy seeing new faces in all departments, especially one as evil, uh, nice as the ED. ;)
