XBMC Auto Updater:

Features:

- One initial setup process to cache your login info & preferences. All settings will be saved until you re-install, or re-run the setup again.

- you will be given a "Browse For" window to select the archive or folder of XBMC you wish to upgrade too. (I might include an option to add direct url ability to DL your build first. You must find a site/url on your own which has a build, dont't bother asking for one!)

- An option for installing new skins from an archived file. (this way you can dl from any skin site, then just select the archive and it will install to your "XBMC/skin/" folder. This will work for most skins, unless they require some sort of custom settings which require manual setup)

Preferences include:
--------------------

Ability to select from a few files & folders you would like to keep from your previous install, and the option to reset the cache.

Folders:

- Python
- Recordings
- Screensavers
- Screenshots
- Scripts
- Skin (might innclude further options)
- Subtitles
- Codecs folder (XBMC/system/players/mplayer/codecs)
- Thumbs
- Visualisations

Cached Files:

- 0face008 folders
- /Z/ partition

Files:

FileZilla Server.xml
keymap.xml
XboxMediaCenter.xml

Usage:

1. Run the app ;-)

2. Complete the initial preference setup, this will only need to be set once.

3. Select which type of install you will be using (Archive, Folder, or URL)

4. A "Browse" window will popup, select the file/folder you wish to install from. (URL choice will default to an Archive file install, it will not require a prompt sine it already knows waht install to use)

5. After you select the the install type and file/folder, the upgrade/install will begin. you will have a screen popup in XBMC with a message: "Ugrading XBMC, Please do not press anything until the install has completed. XBMC should reload on completion." (This will be accomplished by having a custom.xml file for the warning window, and some images will be used, outside of the textures.xpr file, to ensure all XBMC files can be deleted, and none are left read-only. The restart will be initialized through a SITE RestartApp command snedt by the installer)

(Further instructions for other options such as skin installations will be added as I finish developing their structures)

What I need to complete this project:

I need a built-in function added to the SITE or HTTP (or both ;-) commands for something like Deltree. Using a built-in function will allow the deletion to be done locally on the Xbox which will ensure that all files/folders will be deleted quite a bit faster then via ftp since the PC app will not need to list all the files/folders during deletion. As well, it will ensure everything is deleted, incase of FTP instability.

Donno was attempting to create this function last night and has been mostly successful. Unfortunately so far it just states the SITE command was executed but the files/folders stay untouched.

One issue I have noticed is with retrieving the XBMC path into a variable from the FTP. During the setup process you are given a Folder dialog to select the folder you wish to use for your install, this selection is stored in the variable
%%RemoteSelectedDir%%. The problem is that the FTP lists this addrress as (for example) "/E/XBMC" as opposed to the required format for most SITE commands "E:\XBMC". The only workaround I have been able to find is to state if the variable is = to /E/XBMC then variable = E:\XBMC, now this is ok so far, but it's limited. I need to add the paths that could be used, since I have not been able to find a method to convert the structure of the paths saved to the variable.
