The cloning of plants is carried out in a wide open space when doing it on a commercial scale so that things such as fruit and vegetables can be cloned and can be made specially so that they are edible as soon as they are ripe and cleaned. Bacteria can be made in factories so that no contamination of the bacteria can occur. The techniques that we used are not the same as those used on a larger scale because we did our experiment in a lab and only used a small piece of cauliflower to clone another small piece of cauliflower in a test tube, whilst on a larger scale they would be cloning numerous pieces of cauliflower and other different types of plants.
Cloning produces genetically identical offspring. The advantages of this are that if you get the perfect clone of a plant then you do not want that product to change so then you mass produce the same product to make sure that if you are going to sell your product then the person buying your product would always want to keep the best product so that they can either use that product or go to sell the product on. Sometimes however variation is better because if you have the same product over and over again then there is no room for improvement so then everything would always be the same and you never know if the product could get better than what it already is.
