Happy Independance Day
Written by Brian Farr, 7:15 pm, July 4, 2004.
Well I got back from vacation... last Saturday night... was one of those fun 12 hour drives... the first 4 of which in stop and go traffic on the interstate. Been doing stuff with my friends a lot, I was over at Travis's a few times with different people, Kenny got back from camp the other day, so I had him and Jeremiah over at my house...
I saw Dodgeball with Kenny as well, and I have to say, thats one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time... and the first time I've seen someone take a wrench to the head in a movie... :-o
I'm about to go up to my neighbors for a while for 4th of July type stuff, and then over to Byron's house for a Halo party... haven't been to one of those in a while...
I'm going to try and put some more music on here soon, so stay tuned...

Nice spelling. There's no "a" in "independence."

Although I do certainly believe that he was referring to the indepen-DANCE that many of the colonists did after our defeat of England. This ethnic dance is little practiced and difficult to master, but it is rewarding in the experience. Coincidentally, the day it is celebrated happens to fall on the same day as the anniversary of the passing of the Declaration of Indepen-DENCE, a historical moment of far less significance. Only ignorant non-dance enthusiasts would confuse the two.
Well put, Zach.

Many members of the SDCICS (Sons and Daughters of the Colonial Independance and Customs Society) have lobbied to have the lesser holiday moved, but alas, many people unfamiliar with the holiday (a shameful amount, to tell the truth) still maintain that only the Declaration of Independance is noteworthy for that day. At least some people around here are still familiar with the old ways.
And as another popular source of confusion, the mechanism for posting comments as a guest here seems to be rediculously difficult, even with notes and large clear labels. Strange that the guest poster spoofed their http referral, guess thats one less for me to sell to the marketing droids.
Oh also its freaking pedantic to point out misspellings, especially when they're typed... I do much better in spelling at say... spelling bees, but otherwise I try and relax a little.

It is my hope that one day all Americans, regardless of race, gender, religion, and hair color, will be able to shake off their inhibitions and realize we're all just dancers in the great ballroom of life; that we will all kick off our Sunday shoes and get footloose to the independancin' styles of our groovin forefathers. The world would be a better place if people would respect our American independance.
Ah, Kenny...

You seem to be misguided. The fourth of "Juli" is nowhere near the celbration of independance day on July 4th. The word "juli" is obviously latin for "potato" and was first celebrated by the poor Irish farmers that immigrated to America after the great potato famine of 1869. Apparently America did not have enough potatoes to give one to every Irish man and woman, so they divided them into fourths. Upon receiving these gifts, the Irish exclaimed "Look! Look! A fourth of juli!" They were so overjoyed that they lit all the fireworks they had brought with them on the boat which caught fire and sank. That boat's name....The Titanic. That day is celebrated every February 30 of an uneven numbered leap year after a full moon. It is celebrated with potato fireworks and Irish ale, and it is said if you trap a leprechaun inside a potato and cause it to explode thereby sinking a ship, you're pretty freaking talented.
