My intended field of specialization is economics (primary) with probably a joint concentration in mathematics (secondary), although I am considering your applied mathematics option. I would like to get into Harvard as a sophomore and apply to the Harvard College Research Program for Game Theory research right away in order to continue the research I have been doing in Brazil since I was a freshman. As a junior, I intend to start working in a trainee program for a multinational company for two years and work there after finishing Harvard. During my last two college years, I am determined to write a thesis, which will most likely focus on Game Theory. I have been using studying a lot of the mathematics of game theory in Brazil and intend to continue with this focus throughout my years at Harvard. Therefore, I feel there will be no problems in fulfilling the mathematics requirements in the thesis. During my three years at Harvard, I am also interested in participating in the Putnam competition and in the Mathematics Colloquium. I would also like to utilize the possibility of cross-registering business-related disciplines at MIT. Besides that, I have a strong interest in learning Chinese because I believe it will be a very important language in the future - one-fifth of the people in the world today already speak some form of Chinese. Lastly, I am also interested in the Harvard Undergraduate Economics Association to continue the work I have been doing in the Academic Center of Economics at FGV.
