Zerabelle P. (10124): Hi, my name is Zerabelle P. (10124). How may I help you?
Regina: Hello..I have a complaint..and need support. I've spoke to you guys before..and I'm still going to hell and back over this problem.
Regina: My router number is WRT54G version 5, and the firmware is the latest.
Regina: I am running windows XP and I assigned a static ip, 192.168.8.3 and yet..I still have issues. I am trying to run a server, you know what that is? Apache, PHP, MySQL and a subdomain by no-ip.org. And yet...I can see my server index page fine, but everyone else get's no page found...I have already set DMZ to open all ports...still nothing.
Regina: the site is hx.sytes.net
Regina: I can see it fine..others can't, explanation?
Regina: Port 80..not working..why?
Zerabelle P. (10124): Regina, do you have a reference number of your previous session so I can pull up your record?
Regina: No...
Regina: It was with some dude known as Efren T
Regina: I'm really annoyed and fed up..that my site ain't working. On dialup it worked fine..but now..no worky?
Zerabelle P. (10124): So when you bypass the router and connect the server straight to the modem, it can be seen outside, right?
Regina: Havn't tried but that's not possible. The router has to give wireless to the other computers in the house.
Regina: So I can't unwire the router..
Regina: The computer the server is on is my laptop..I use it for server and regular things..but server can't be seen from the outside.
Zerabelle P. (10124): When you forwarded the port, did you use the static IP address you set on the server?
Regina: Yes
Regina: I think I have apache configured right, I would configure it to local host, right?
Regina: Does the router static ip address count as localhost?
Regina: And what do I set the DNS address as? I left it blank.
Zerabelle P. (10124): Yes, the router's local IP address will serve as the host.
Regina: Still not seen from the outside..
Zerabelle P. (10124): May I know what is your router's local IP address right now?
Regina: The static or the page thingy?
Zerabelle P. (10124): You can see it on the setup tab of the router.
Regina: hold on
Zerabelle P. (10124): If we are chatting wired to the router, the default gateway of this PC we're chatting with is the router's IP address.
Regina: Oh, it's 192.68.8.8
Regina: Ack
Regina: `92.168.8.8
Regina: 192, sorry stupid keyboard
Zerabelle P. (10124): It's okay.
Zerabelle P. (10124): On the setup page its 192.168.8.8, right?
Regina: Yes
Zerabelle P. (10124): The the server is 192.168.8.3 with no DNS, right?
Regina: Right
Zerabelle P. (10124): I see.
Regina: I think it has to do with port 80, I'm not sure.
Regina: Apache is set to port 80
Zerabelle P. (10124): The server is working online with the router, but you cannot access it with other computers, am I correct?
Regina: Yes
Regina: The server's subdomain is ran by no-ip
Zerabelle P. (10124): Let us forward port 8080. Please disable the DMZ first.
Regina: Will this close the chat session?
Zerabelle P. (10124): It won't. But there is a possibility that we'll get disconnected once we save the settings.
Regina: Disabled
Zerabelle P. (10124): Thank you.
Zerabelle P. (10124): Please forward port 8080 under the port forwarding subtab. Please use 192.168.8.3 as the IP address.
Regina: Start and End for 8080?
Zerabelle P. (10124): Yes.
Regina: Ok, forwarded
Zerabelle P. (10124): Please disable the firewall of the server.
Regina: How?
Zerabelle P. (10124): The laptop has the web server, right?
Regina: Yes
Zerabelle P. (10124): Does the laptop uses a built-in wireless card?
Regina: No, an adapter. But it's wired to the router at the moment. My laptop is the host computer.
Zerabelle P. (10124): I see.
Zerabelle P. (10124): Please go to the control panel and look for the Windows firewall icon, then turn it off.
Regina: It's been off.
Zerabelle P. (10124): Okay.
Zerabelle P. (10124): That's all for now, Regina.
Regina: I tried the site..now not even I can see it.
Zerabelle P. (10124): Is there anything else that I may assist you with?
Zerabelle P. (10124): Have you saved the settings already>
Regina: Yes
Regina: Nothing
Zerabelle P. (10124): Please restart the laptop.
Regina: And if it doesn't work after that?
Zerabelle P. (10124): How do you access your server? Do you use the port?
Regina: Port meaning? I use a browser to direct it to the link.
Regina: The server is on my computer.
Regina: My computer is the server.
Regina: The server is a website..I'm trying to host my website.
Zerabelle P. (10124): Do you know your public IP address? Do you use public IP and the port to access the web site?
Regina: Yes...but as I said..I use a subdomain.
Zerabelle P. (10124): Okay.
Zerabelle P. (10124): Let us try to see if the port forwarding will work. If it won't, please re-login to Live Chat and we'll reflash the router's firmware.
Regina: Huh? if I restart the computer, though, then the session will end..and when I get back, I'll get someone else, how do I get back to you in particular?
Zerabelle P. (10124): You may tell the next technician to transfer you to me when I'm available. Or you can give him the reference number of this session which will be emailed to you.
Regina: Is there any way I can just give phone number and still be in a session, while restarting?
Zerabelle P. (10124): I am so sorry, Regina. I can only assist you through Live Chat.
Zerabelle P. (10124): You may also call 1-800-326-7114 and an agent will assist you over the phone.
Regina: Ok, then restarting...is this chat gonna be saved?
Zerabelle P. (10124): You may copy and paste this session to a Word document. I am not sure if the transcript of this session will be included in the email though.
Regina: Right..bye.
