I look forward to seeing how this works out.

mailing list for a month).
What use is a mailing list to a project with *two* contributing
developers? Naturally, we communicate via direct email. The list was used for
a time when there was a possibility of someone else contributing - but
when it became clear that this won't fly, I stopped using it.

Guess what? We do, and we will. And we could care less about whatever
it is that people who did nothing for the project think about it.
The distros that carry mtPaint, do so as a _replacement_ for GIMP; the
Windows users that are the majority of our userbase, use mtPaint
_instead_ of not only GIMP, but Photoshop as well; and we ourselves use
mtPaint this same way. And when mtPaint lacks some feature that is needed
for our own, or our users', practical needs - we're going to add it.
The idea is that mtPaint should remain small, fast, and easy to use,
but the more power we could cram in this package, the better.
If someone disagrees, he is welcome to fork the project - or better
yet, to maintain a scaled-down version in parallel to our full-featured
one.

As a matter of fact, all interface design is Mark Tyler's area of
responsibility; I'm having my hands quite full with coding the backend. I'll
forward your complaint to him.

And isn't *THAT* thing crammed chock full of features??? ;-)
Anyway, mtPaint isn't about copying other programs; we're doing
original development, and doing it the way we see fit. It remains to be seen
if Photofiltre has any features or design ideas useful to us, but at a
first glance, it's too much a look-alike of Photoshop.
