Alright bud, we're going to get you using Teamspeak, which is what we use to talk to each other independent of Counterstrike. We use it during matches and practices, so that everyone can hear what's being said, even if they are dead.
So, here's what you have to do.
Step 1: Download TeamSpeak
Rather than making you look for it, I've got the download link right here. Just click here to download the software. Install it with the default options.
Step 2: Set up Teamspeak to connect to our server
Now that Teamspeak is installed on your computer, it's time to set it up to connect to our server. Open up the teamspeak program, and you should see a window come up with a blue background. To set up a new connection, open the "Connection" pulldown menu, and select the "Connect" option.
Once you've done this, you'll have a window pop up that says "Connect to Server". You will have a blank white box with the word "Servers" in it. Right click on the word "Servers", and select "Add Server". It will create a server name below the word "Servers" that will say "New Server". You can leave it as that, or change it to say "SNG Server", or whatever you want to call it.
Now that you have created a server, click on it once. When you do, you will see a bunch of text entry boxes on the left side of the window. They will say "Label", "Server Address", etc.
In the "Server Address field, enter media.peeron.com
In the Nickname field, enter SwissChris
Make sure that the "Anonymous" button is checked.
Leave the "Registered" button alone
Leave the "Password" field blank
Set the "Default Channel" field to Counter Strike
Leave all unmentioned fields blank
Once you've done all that, click the "Connect" button. You should be in!
Once you have set all this up once, you can just connect to the server every time by clicking the Connect button.
Step 3: configure your microphone
Most of us like to push a button to activate our microphones, like you do in Counter Strike. To enable this, go to the "Settings" pulldown menu in the main Teamspeak window, and select "Sound Input/Output Settings"
A window will pop up named "Sound Settings". In that window, about halfway down, is Voice Send Method. Check the "push to talk" button, and then click the "Set" button. After clicking the "Set" button, press the button that you want to use to activate your mic. Once you have done that, click the "Close" button on the bottom of that window. Then, whenever you want to talk to one of us, just press the button that you selected in the "Set" for push to talk.
Hope to see you on sometime!
