18:30 [msg(nalioth)] mind doing a voice run? 24 unvoiced people :/
18:30 -!- Irssi: Starting query in freenode with nalioth
18:30 <nalioth+> wonder why?
18:31 <AfterDeath> why?
18:31 <nalioth+> you KNOW why
18:31 <AfterDeath> no...?
18:32 <nalioth+> where were you yesterday?
18:32 <AfterDeath> the coring doesn't explain why there are 24 voiced people
18:33 <nalioth+> you havn't clicked to ALL that happened, have you?
18:33 <AfterDeath> other than that the ircd basically got rebooted, apparently not
18:33 <nalioth+> MOST of the channels lost their /topics, their banlists, shall i continue?
18:34 <AfterDeath> well, thats the obvious result of the ircd restart
18:34 <nalioth+> hmmm, avoice lists would be lost, too?
18:34 <AfterDeath> durrr, no
18:34 <AfterDeath> durrr
18:34 <AfterDeath> avoice is in services
18:34 <AfterDeath> services databases are intact
18:34 <AfterDeath> duh
18:35 <nalioth+> are they?
18:35 <AfterDeath> hence the reason that channels with the topic in the chanserv database stay intact
18:35 <AfterDeath> hence the reason people didn't need to re-register channels
18:36 <nalioth+> all of the channels i was in lost their topics
18:36 <AfterDeath> topics aren't done through services
18:36 <AfterDeath> topics are done in ircd
18:36 <AfterDeath> now
18:36 <AfterDeath> SOMETIMES, chanserv stores topics. _IF_ you specifically tell it to
18:36 <AfterDeath> but most of the time, topics are just set via /topic
18:37 <AfterDeath> /msg chanserv access #freenode-social list
18:37 <nalioth+> interesting
18:37 <AfterDeath> looks not reset to me.
18:37 <AfterDeath> services are essentially a server node that gets linked
18:37 <AfterDeath> everything gets stored in databases
18:37 <AfterDeath> in the ircd, however, everything is just stored in RAM.
18:37 <AfterDeath> when ircd cores, ircd settings get reset
18:38 <AfterDeath> now, theoretically, services might have cored too
18:38 <AfterDeath> and due to daily backups
18:38 <AfterDeath> you would have lost, at most, 24 hours of information
18:38 <AfterDeath> but you wouldn't have avoice lists reset.
