generates:
<select name="foo" id="foo" >
  <option value="">None</option>
  <option value="A">A</option>
   ..
</select>

But when I submit this via:

   <?php echo form_remote_tag(array(
     'url'    => '@foo_filter',
     'update' => 'foo_list',
     'script' => true),
     array('id' => 'filter_form',
   )) ?>

I end up with "None" as the value for foo and not "" as I would expect.
