    Bend it like Beckham

Bend it like Becham is a feel-good film about a teen named Jesminda that has dreams of playing football. During the film she faces a few obstacles, the toughest one been her mother who wants her to concentrate on her school studies. This film gives a strong message about following your dreams.

Dreams are an important thing to have, at the start of the film Jess is dreaming about playing football for a team, her idol David Beckham is in the dream, he passes the ball to her and she scores a goal which wins the match. Her dream ended when her mother interrupted it by yelling at her about how pointless football is. Soon she snapped back to reality and her mother is shouting at her, “Your sister’s getting engaged and you’re sitting here watching this skinhead boy!” and Jess replied “Mum, it’s Beckhams Corner!”

Jess’s parents only want her to concentrate on university and not football; they let her play football when she was young but now that she is 18 they won’t allow it anymore. Jess continues to play football in the park with her male friends. One day in the park she met a girl named Jules who played for a girl’s football team and asked her to try out.

Jess goes to try out for the team; she is only use to playing in the park. She meets the coach Joe who asks her “Where do you normally play?” and Jess says “In the park.” Joe then says “No. . . I meant what position?” looking surprised.

Soon after Jess’s team becomes very good
