In construction it is very helpful and cost effective to have Autocad available. We do not presently have a user, but may in the future staff for this function. At this time we are not requesting Autocad, but may add Autocad in future.

Subject: Autocad Upgrade Survey
ISS Anchorage Employees,
Autocad is a very usefull tool within our organization. Recently we have had to reallocate our Autocad installations to different workstations in compensation for the few licenses we own. Because of this I am conducting an automated survey on all workstations in our division with Autocad installed. The program I created to do this is storing information to our servers on how often Autocad is in use on our workstations and will help me make a decision on how to maximize our existing licenses and minimize upgrades to older licenses and upgrades in the future. This does not mean I will be removing Autocad from workstations where it is currently installed later on after the survey is complete, instead it will help me allocate a minimal amount of licenses to a network license manager and upgrade all workstations that require Autocad to Autocad 2007 if the survey results point in that direction. In the case of network license management each workstation would take a license from the server whenever it is needed and return it to the license manager whenever Autocad is closed on that workstation. The primary goal of the survey data is to detail how many workstations are running autocad in parallel during the day.
Why upgrade?
Autocad 2007 is the current standard, as technology and technical requirements change in our industry Autodesk has established a new file format for Autocad files that earlier revisions of the software may not be able to read. We have multiple Autocad 2005 and Autocad 2006 installations in our network that potentially will not be able to read, edit, or accuratly interperit current Autocad 2007 data received from our contractors..
If you have Autocad installed on your workstation please inform me by replying to this email, I have a clear idea of where Autocad is installed, however the software auditor may have missed a few workstations.
Also if you are an Autocad user and your workstation is acting insane all of a sudden, please let me know so I can adjust the survey frequency on your machine.
Thank you,
