Owen Smith: A Technical Support Prodigy
14-year-old Owen Smith wants to be an Online Support Technician when he grows up. Specifically, he wants to work for Blizzard Entertainment, the leading producer of best-selling games such as World of Warcraft and Diablo. He is currently working on a series of Starcraft "maps" (the term used for the custom-made games that are played on Starcraft, another game produced by Blizzard Entertainment), and has already released a few. Going under the name "Admiral_Hoth", commonly referred to as just "Hoth", he spends much of his time on the computer. A few of the maps he created and released to the public were "Hoth's Lazer Tag" and "Starcraft Fortress". The major project he is working on at this time has been dubbed "Hothville", which is a sort of movie viewed on Starcraft, instead of a game. It is an exaggerated storytelling of his life, with explosions, spaceships, and zombies. When he's not producing maps, he's usually playing Starcraft or Diablo with his friends.
Owen was born in Washington, but his heritage is quite interesting. He is "mainly Japanese and part Brazilian", but his Japanese side is what he talks about most. He has royal heritage: he is "closely related to a very powerful shogun of a large clan (which I cannot remember the name of)" of feudal Japan. His interests are a bit unusual. His favorite pets are fish, and he owns one fish. His favorite food is macarroni & cheese, and he hopes to someday learn Korean and Japanese. Japanese because of his heritage, and Korean because of a very interesting fact: Starcraft is considered a national sport in South Korea. Many major tournaments take place there, and most of the best players live there. He hopes to someday visit and participate in Starcraft tournaments. His phobias include anything that is small and has more than six legs, and strangely, French class. The class makes him anxious because he generally has trouble pronouncing words, memorizing grammar and spelling, and writing sentences. Owen is a very unique individual, and you will definitely see his name on a Blizzard employee list once he is an adult.
