<curveball> I understand where you are coming from. However I am a pragmatist, and to be honest I don't give a shit how you feel about your own community, how throwaway feels about #pickup or who is right and who is wrong
<xxxmoneypower> No one is right or wrong, man.
<xxxmoneypower> That's the thing.
<xxxmoneypower> The only reason I started my own subreddit.
<curveball> I've seen this exact same story play out a thousand times
<xxxmoneypower> Is because I wasn't going to start calling people right or wrong on seddit, when I don't run the board.
<xxxmoneypower> That's just disrespectful to you guys, as mods.
<xxxmoneypower> And it's like I'm obviously more than welcome to contribute to seddit, I've done it before? I spent weeks enriching the community and entertaining the idea of doing an awesome podcast—until the people involved went cold. So I started r/pickup so I could do the same things without stepping on anyones toes.
<xxxmoneypower> Throwaway, was pissed when he saw I was going to have a podcast.
<curveball> When did he say anything about the podcast?
<xxxmoneypower> And the rest is the tail of the tape—I'd be really happy to contribute to seddit, and enrich that community. Before it goes under. But if you guys aren't on board with that then I'm not going to act like a mod on a subreddit where I'm just another user, technically.
<xxxmoneypower> from throwaway: "I saw xxxmoneypower make a post about a "Seddit Podcast" and that really pissed me off."
<xxxmoneypower> "I have always avoided IRC, I never use it, I think it's a security threat since it exposes your IP address. IRC has a high-speed, real time dynamic that is pretty anarchic and open to exploitation by pretty much anyone."
<xxxmoneypower> "Can't you permaban xxxmoneypower from the channel? Is this where he has been causing trouble?"
<curveball> I don't see where throwaway said any of that
<curveball> links
<xxxmoneypower> he didn't say them on the subreddit rofl
<curveball> I'm going through his posting history for reference to podcast
<xxxmoneypower> just run those quotes by throwaway
<xxxmoneypower> and see how he responds
<xxxmoneypower> lol
<curveball> Where did he say them? not on the subreddit?
<xxxmoneypower> i'm sure these comments were in response: "I've already gotten complaints about this already."
<xxxmoneypower> I have no idea, shit was just pmed to me from logs.
<curveball> Ok, not going to reply as I haven't seen throwaway say anything like that.
<curveball> So look
<curveball> What is your primary goal with starting pickup
<curveball> i mean #pickup
<xxxmoneypower> moderate and enrich a user-run, community generated subreddit.
<xxxmoneypower> i started #pickup to get away from 17yr old dutch kid faggotry.
<curveball> What is the underlying desire behind moderating the subreddit
<xxxmoneypower> I was referred to seddit and realized it was a dying community, and I care about, enjoy, and subsequently am interested in pickup.
<curveball> I would like to know, because it affects where this goes, whether the goal of enriching a user-run subreddit on pickup is more important than being a moderator and having official "I can ban you" power
<xxxmoneypower> That's semi-insulting.
<curveball> No, I need to know we are starting this conversation from common ground
<xxxmoneypower> I've said multiple times to you on skype, and in this conversation—the same thing.
<curveball> Ok, so lets take moderation off the table for the time being, because I see no way of that happening for at least the immediate future
<curveball> Can we talk about what is best for the communities / users then?
<xxxmoneypower> You're more than welcome to say whatever you want curveball—cut the patronizing bullshit.
<xxxmoneypower> We're both men, man.
<curveball> I'm not trying to patronize you, I want to make sure we start on common ground, I apologize if it comes off as patronizing
<xxxmoneypower> It's all good—so what do you want to do?
<curveball> Ok. Here is what I believe. We are at the top of a hill, and it is getting steeper. The more and more this goes without getting on a common page between #pickup, you and seddit mods... the more division there will be and the more impossible it will be to come to a resolution
<curveball> All seddit is, is a ton of readers and 4 mods. That's it. Most are AFC, but ultimately the community is whatever we make it
<curveball> Had you come to the mods and been like "Yo, I want to improve the community and I see these reasons/ actions as not making that possible on seddit, I want to start my own subreddit" then we could have got to common ground before
<curveball> Right now, you are an unknown to them, and all they know is you started a competing subreddit
<curveball> No one demands or wins a leadership seat by starting a rival entity
