Democracy and equality are established core values for our Union, and we are proud of those. How can we reach higher and be the best for everybody next year?
1. Keeping community engagement going - it really helped us win uni of the year '11.
2. Replacing the tractionless anti-arms idea with a broader and better-defined Uni policy to prefer partners with active social responsibility (ISO 26000).
3. Supporting a bar and some similar activities at Endcliffe; more fun for them, and gives freshers a sanctuary too.
4. Going for bi-termly, standardised, uni-endorsed and accountable staff-student liaison meetings in all depts; my home department has great teaching, but some other deptartments get away with murder in terms of marking consistency and feedback.
5. Getting hands-on every day and being creative with organising union events as refurbishment disables large parts of our Union building next year.
6. Active union press releases / emails / publicity about the beneficial things it sets up; past incumbents have done great things but failed to get the word out, and I guess that's echoed in how little the '11 candidates - and the rest of the student body - know about them.
