ite Changes
Hi,
Now that I can devote more time to this site, I've begun to implement some changes. There may be the occasional glitch and service outage during these changes.
A major change is the replacement of the site rules that were known as the New User Management Policy. This was inconsistent with the relationship I hope to have between the members and the site. Please see the first version of the new Site Rules.
Another change, recently implemented, has a minor affect on uploaders. The term "VIP" will now be used for a new rank between moderator and uploader. Former VIPs are now described differently but are otherwise unaffected. The FAQ is being updated to explain the change.
Two qualifications for eligibilty to upload have been dropped. A red port is now permitted for uploads, despite being generally undesirable. This is because it has no effect on the music. It's the music that matters. Downloaders with the same problem will still be prevented from joining the swarm during the first critical hours of a torrent when they may not be able to connect to the uploader.
Also gone is the requirement for a fast connection. If someone is prepared to devote their meagre bandwidth for a day to upload a CD, they can do so with thanks. Note that we still expect uploaders to upload as quickly as possible, stopping all other torrents during the upload.
In the next few days, I expect to be asking uploaders of their opinions on some topics.
